Senior associate put in his notice. But he has trial next month and is planning on leaving before that. Ugh. Just needed to let it out.

But did you try offering free bagels in the kitchen and access to online mental health counseling?

Everyone uses their vacay before leaving. When you give notice, sometimes you are ushered out before you finish the sentence.

Low key, I feel that “I’d rather completely switch jobs than prepare for this next trial” energy.

That sucks, sorry to hear. I’m about to do this to one group of partners because of the behavior of another partner I rarely work for. Sorry folks.

Lol he asked me if I'd go too

I had this happen to me last month. It was not fun, but I was so busy I got through it without really realizing what happened.

As an update, he apparently didn't realize that he actually might be in violation of ethical obligations by giving notice seven weeks before trial when he knew our other trial attorneys would be unavailable. (Litigator 1 has a trial around the same time, and Litigator 2 is the sole caretaker for his wife who has months to live and is undergoing chemo, as well as their young daughter.) When I mentioned that to him, he said that Litigator 1's trial was a week before his trial, and a week is plenty of time to prep for a case that he had no involvement in. And he said that Litigator 2 CAN do the trial, he just doesn't want it. (The one whose wife is dying.) So basically I am pretty disgusted by who he has shown himself to be as a person.

He is actually surprised that I don't see things the way he does on this. I mentioned that just a quick Google search showed that departing associates have ethical obligations to ensure no prejudice to the client when leaving. He basically asked me to do research for him and send it to him. Um what?

I wondered about the ethical implications when you first posted. I think it’s a valid question.

Where to find the best roommates that are friend-material, kind,'friendly, want to include you in their friend group, share similar values as you and won't judge you?

I find myself in a weird place. No STEM degree but have been working in data science for years. I’ve built data science teams/programs. However, I probably wouldn’t hire myself based education, and recently didn’t get an offer after final round with an Amazon research group. I suspect lack of a PhD despite seemingly doing well in interviews. So continue with data science and get a masters or pivot to something else?

12 years and my partner won't do chores. Vent vent vent. I make 80% of our income and pay 80% of expenses. I'm also tidy but hate cleaning. Partner works 20-30 hours/ week no kids and is a slob. 3 months ago made chore list, got them to sign on the list the 50/50 split that it was fair. 3 months later I've been doing my chores they haven't done any. Brought it up today and was accused that the list was unfair they refuse and they dont have time because they must "work to subsidize your expenses"

Texas biglaw: let’s name & shame firms who expect us to go back to the office five days a week with no hybrid model going forward.

Personally, I will continue to WFH twice a week despite my firm “strongly encouraging everyone to be in the office once vaccinated.” Wtf are they going to do? I’m an adult and if I’m billing my hours, it shouldn’t matter.

So let’s name, shame, & make it clear to these firms and their boomer management that we will not go back to the pre-Covid miserable grind.

I keep reaching out to the attorney who I am assisting to ask if I can file my withdrawal and for the name of the new attorney and nothing. (Cont.)
