Senior associate who I consider a quasi-mentor suddenly went on medical leave. Would it be weird/unprofessional to send a brief text saying I hope they’re doing well and look forward to having them back? I want to respect privacy (and I have 0 details) but also want to be human.

If you found out in a "public" way (OOO message, normal chat because you all work in the same group, etc.), I think a short text would be nice.

like

Brief text without any mention of the person returning. They could feel pressure.

Just wait a few weeks and say what you wanna say in an email. It expected that co workers will find out

I think that would be a nice text.

On a project right now where I am the only senior with 3 staff under me. There is a manager and director but the manager is very uninvolved and the Director is slammed - I’ve essentially been left to run the project. My issue is the 3 staff are completely MIA (Director and Manager knows) - they don’t respond to emails, Teams messages, meeting invites, etc. What would you do in this situation? Cold call them and tell them to work? Call their direct boss?

The small firm I work for has a terrible turn over rate and I think it is in part due to the firm owner/managing attorney. He seems oblivious to this and always finds fault with the people who leave. Is there any good way to approach this with him or am I better off keeping my mouth shut? It’s affecting my work because I keep losing assistants and paralegals and then having to get new ones caught up.

So embarrassed. I literally had one job to do today which was to schedule a client and give and take her paperwork when she came in. Totally called her by the wrong name today AND gave her the wrong paperwork. She was really nice about it but I feel like my boss was disappointed and I'm disappointed in myself. I don't want her to think I won't be able to keep clients straight when I start doing supervised sessions.

I am looking for project/business analyst roles.

I decided to graduate a year early, double majored in Health Policy & Economics and Global history.

I don't regret that decision. Being at Vanderbilt wasn't the best experience, esp for an immigrant w/ low SES status.

While COVID impacted my plans for the two summers I had, I made the best use of the opportunities I came across. I know I am skilled, more than competent, but sometimes seeing so many rejections makes me question my abilities.
