The SM is not busy enough. Casually mention to partners you know that this SM seems to have a lot of bandwidth

That’s a pro gamer move, M2.
Find new project
Why will they fire you?
I’d get out before you get burned more. Clearly it’s not going to work and the longer you stay, the more it’ll screw you for snapshots and year end

Markets to hot right now to deal with that BS. If Deloitte would fire you, there’s 3 other firms that do the same stuff and all pay around the same that would probably gladly take you.

Going through the same thing right now - from being a top performer in a previous project whilst owning some client relationships, to a slide monkey + bad performer in current project, over the smallest things (being told to add a useless sentence in an email, change colour of slides, etc, and being delegated a ridiculous amount of tedious work). Personally I can’t wait to leave and having a final round for another job this weekend. Wish me luck!!
I wish - same constraints as OP. The prospect of burning bridges is a real constraint in ACN, and possibly consulting in general
Sounds like the Sr Manager doesn’t know how to be a Sr Manager. Hopefully you can work through this!
Dealt with this for 6 months and was basically told multiple times to ride it out. I did everything literally as they wanted, didn't stress anymore, and stopped doing anything other than what I was told. Got rolled off too soon, they tried to extend me and I never looked back.
I took the same approach and now the supervisor is saying I don’t have initiative 🤦🏻♀️ even though we are still working crazy hours
So I was in the same situation (always been a high performer) and was working with a SM that was doing exactly what you describe. It’s been 2 years and I can say I took a big hit in my career. I didn’t want to change project to not cause a ruckus, but that was the biggest mistake I made in my career so far. So yeah my advice would be to get out of this project, even if you piss off a few people.
It happens. Find a way to work with him. I have a similar SM. 2 Options :
1. Find a way to make it work. Ignore his crazy. Let your work speak for you.
2. Find a new project
Leave the project now.
