Senior not allowed to go for promotion this year due to firm politics. What happens if I accept a manager job at another big 4 firm? Ties forever cut or is it an understandable situation?

Do it. No one is going to remember or care. Ask yourself if those people in your practice would be whom you'd want to be in your network going forward. I bet if you looked at that list, those would be the same people who'd understand.

No one gives a crap at all. Do it.

It is all in the execution. If you are perceived as leaving because you are bitter about not being put up, that is a burned bridge. If you are perceived as having moved because someone presented you an opportunity, nobody can blame you. Honestly though, over the course of a 30+ year career, waiting 1 more year for promotion is quickly forgotten. My advice is to stay put and understand the skills you need to excel at the next level and hone them - there is a reason why you were not put up.

Are you in a manager role today? My 2c is it's gonna be hard to level up jumping firms.

P1 gave you some solid advice. Quick progression to one level doesn't equal long term success. Focus on getting yourself into the right stretch role today with good support and promotions will follow

Be honest with yourself. Maybe it was due to firm politics, but maybe that's just an excuse. Too many people blame stuff like this on firm politics because it helps the ego to blame it on something outside of their control. Take a look at yourself objectively and figure out what you can do better and go do it. Even if you were qualified for a promotion, you might not have been THE MOST qualified of everyone in the candidate pool.

Question for all my experienced Financial Professionals; I work at a large Car Dealership as their only F&I Assistant to two F&I Managers. I upkeep, prepare, and submit loan documentation for all cars financed while also preparing paperwork for our Title Clerk, Accounting Clerk, etc. We sell over 200 cars A MONTH! I make $20/hour, work 8+ hours of OT a week and make $.50/per car bonus. Is this a fair wage for the volume of work? If not, how do I ask for more?
