I encourage you to take care of yourself first. Stress is not good for you or the baby. I suggest looking into the medical leave if that’s an option. Not to scare you, but stress can cause babies to come early. Mine came at 25 weeks (stress was not the reason) and spent 15 weeks in the NICU. She’s a healthy 10 year old now, but I encourage you to do anything you can to be calm and a good, safe space for the baby to try to avoid early labor. If you need time off work, do it. It will be better in the long run. Hope this is helpful, really not trying to scare you.

Please think about baby and your health first. Try not to feel guilty. It’s a big firm - they’ll survive. Your and baby’s quality of life come first. Wishing you well and all good things.

You and baby come first. Don't worry about the team, they will manage. Either they'll hire a replacement or figure out something else. Feel free to express care and compassion when telling them your decision, but remember that if you caught covid or got hit by a bus, they'd have to deal anyway. At least this way you can partially support them in a limited fashion or hang out a while for a knowledge transfer.

There is nothing more important than the health of you and your baby. If you’re on e fence, maybe ask the doc for a note limiting you to 35-40 hours per week so you are still helping but have some defined limits. I started having contractions at 28 weeks (I think due to stress) and was fully effaced and dilated 2 cm by 30 weeks. I went on to bed rest and thankfully made it to 36 weeks but I wish I would have just taken it easy.

Y’all are so kind. I appreciate all your words and advice. Going to weigh my best options! Thank you all ❤️

Take care of yourself and baby. Being pregnant and off ADHD medicine is hard enough, I know, I just went through it and still can’t take them due to breastfeeding. Your team will manage without you and depending how far along you are, they should be prepared.

You and your baby come first!! If you can take leave early, do it. The work will always be there and get done. Congrats on your baby. It’s truly a precious time.

You cannot risk your and your baby’s health to take care of your company. You have to take care of yourself. Everyone knows pregnancy is hard. Explain that you are having trouble. Your management and team will probably be more supportive than you think. My partner and team helped lighten my load, and helped me get things done. They had no clue about my ADHD either. They know that outside of pregnancy, I’m going to pull my weight and more, so they didn’t flinch at pulling my weight temporarily.

Your's and the baby's health is most important right now. Meet with your counselor and discuss what you need your work day to look like. Then communicate that to your respective teams. Folks are going to forget, others will have an attitude, but most will be supportive. Do what you can to get your tasks done without overwhelming yourself, ask for help when you need it, but above all else - take care of your needs first.

You aren't curing cancer. The baby you're carrying and your health come first and foremost!

Take care of you. If that means early pregnancy leave, do it. Management will figure something out, it's their job.

I went into pre-term labor at 26 weeks and suspect it was work stress-related. I think there is room for balance with working reasonable hours while having the time you and the baby deserve to take care of you both. Is there an opportunity to work part-time? If so, maybe this gives you the chance to contribute without feeling like you are leaving your colleagues in a lurch. If they won’t accept part-time then early maternity leave may be the option best for the situation. They can’t hold you at fault for trying to offer creative ways to contribute while ensuring the long-term health and safety of you and the baby. If they value the long-term contributions you have for them, they will be reasonable and understanding.

I did something like this while a mid-level associate in Biglaw. I had medical complications that were only moderately serious, but paired with awful back pain. I started taking a day of intermittent medical leave here and there several weeks before my due date, and ultimately took an extra week or so of medical leave before my due date. It was the best possible thing. This was a very busy season at work but my team was lovely about it and I jumped right back in when I returned. It was worth it.

If you choose not to take an earlier leave to spare your team, then you are putting them ahead of your health and your baby’s health. When you look at it that way, I think it would make your decision easier. It sounds like you know what you want to do. Don’t be ashamed to leave early for your sake and your baby’s sake. You need to do what is best for you.

Hi OP, I’m also currently pregnant and stuck in a scenario where I possibly cannot work until I deliver. Just want to reassure you that it’s completely okay. Your health (and the child’s health) is more imp than anything else. Let no one in your workplace tell you otherwise. You can always get back to work post delivery or whenever you feel comfortable but yeah please don’t feel the need to prioritize work right now, there will be a time very soon for that :)

Take care of yourself. Go on leave as soon as you need to and don’t worry about work. I was in your shoes as a Director - pregnant and off of my ADD meds going into a busy time. I was on bed rest most of my pregnancy and delivered early. I had a significant amount of work stress which I am sure contributed. Don’t worry - the work and opportunities will still be there!

I'm 10 weeks and just started short term disability.i now have a reduced schedule, 30 hours a week. My Ob and therapist have convinced me to feel zero guilt. We work for a giant company, SOMEONE can do the work. If its that big of an issue they can hire someone. Its not worth putting your baby and yourself at risk. I have hyperemesis gravidarum and high risk for pre-eclampsia (had both in my previous pregnancy). Also, off my ADHD meds. Its impossible for me to sustain a normal workload

Our nanny takes my 7 month old out for one, sometimes 2, long walks every day (weather permitting). Love the idea of fresh air every day but its often for several hours at a time and he always returns home crying bc she's pushed him to his limit between feedings. She brushes it off saying hes just fussy which kind of irks me. Im also concerned that he's spending too much time strapped in a stroller. Is it reasonable to ask her to take shorter walks? Am I overreacting?

I need advice, has anyone been in a similar sit? Met a guy on Bumble in March. He had gotten out of a 4 year relationship in December. We dated for 2 ish weeks, on date 3 we made out and touched (no sex but we both came). After the date he tells me he needs time to himself, his mind is all over the place. We’re May and he reached back out (to congratulate me for my sisters baby). Said he’s in a much better place mentally, wants to meet up. CONTd in comments
