Seniors who left recently, what % raise did you get? I'm an S2, so I still have a while to go. I have a call with a recruiter this week and was going to tell her I want a 20% raise for my next role.

First thing I would not leave unless 20% raise but I would tell the recruiter that an offer has to be for at least 20% more than what I making for me to co wider about it. This gives you some cushion and you can ask for more if there is a good fit.

Never understood the people that say they got 20-50% increases when exiting PA. 20% is realistic but 50% is very inflated and hard to come by. With roughly 3 years of experience as an S2, you won’t get that high of an increase, 20% at most if you count base plus bonus and maybe stock options.

I am leaving as a senior 2 going from $67k to $102k base salary. Busy season usually consists of work to 7 p.m. on weekdays and no weekends. I get a a 10% to 20% cash bonus and 20% to 30% stock compensation annually, 6% 401(k) match, better health insurance, and same PTO days as EY.

I am mostly leaving so that I will have more free time and more opportunities when it comes to swing trading.

GT1, that’s my S1 salary in tax.

I got offered 25% increase. I know ppl even get 25-50% increase too but I would consider 20% minimum “base” increase as mentioned above by tax associate 1.

20% raise is not worth moving for. One generally gets 25% return by staying in the company. I got an offer of 35% (94-125k) raise on base as a Sr 2 and I said no. You should not look at percentage hike, you should ask for a number that you like. If your base is low, (like mine) percentages mean nothing.

20% is not bad. Generally, anything above 20% is good luck. It gets more tougher as you keep moving up the ladder at firm

I have been approached by 3 separate HR people at a startup company to interview for a position. I already have a fulltime job that pays well and I only started 6 months ago too. Anyways, the pay was intriguing and the job was a high level scientific advisor so I did interviews. At the last interview, at the end I was told the job was for management but I prepared for a different kind of interview. I am waiting for an offer or rejection letter. I feel peeved that they wasted my time. Red flags?

Hi tax 🐠,

I have a question for those who prep individual tax returns. My parents claim my grandfather as a dependent on their tax return and due to their low income, receive PTC for the premiums they pay on his insurance (not eligible for medicare). However, would it be advantageous to have him file for his own tax return (he stays with my parents and doesn't have his own proof of residency via bills). If so, can he get PTC if his income is 0?
