Yeah, you’ll work 45hr+ weeks and you’ll very likely travel 🤕
29% increase in work or more tbh.
Your mileage definitely varies. I have never really had to work more than 20 hours a week at Accenture, on average. Some spikes here and there, but mostly dicking around. Been here 3.5 years. Doesn’t matter local or travel project. And I’ve rarely been on a project in an out of town location where travel is “strictly required”. It’s 2018. Webex and Skype exist.
It really depends on your project tbh. My first project 60+ hour weeks and M-Th travel. Now I’m local and work a solid 40 hr week
M to thurs travel. 60+ hrs/week. Decide if money is worth it.
No travel and 45 hour weeks is like a unicorn in consulting. I would stay out if I were you...but then again I highly value WLB
A6 sounds like he’s joking but he’s not. I dont travel at all and probably work 40 hours a week. T&O practice can get busy closer to launches but seems pretty level WLB wise
Travel is the norm for the most part
I’m pretty sure that’s the Human Capitol practice in T&O. I’m actually in that so happy to share my experience (am in Accenture federal btw)
I also know someone who does Salesforce at accenture and works maybe 2-4 hours per day from home. Consulting can be a chill job in some cases
Ironically I'm actually in the Strategy practice 😆 it'd be pretty difficult to be on the bench that long in Strategy - usually within a week of hitting the bench I have multiple projects trying to staff me, if I don't go straight from one project to another. I'd probably have to say "no" to a dozen or more projects to get to the point where I was on the bench for 6 weeks
Strategy is a little different than other practices though 😁
I'm aware of that, I just want to know how much more
I will say that local projects do seem to be rare and that 80% travel is the norm
OP, which practice? That'll change the answer drastically
People & change practice
Op is this for an internal role? If it’s C&M aligned then you should expect a lot of travel except if you’re very senior and can work some flexibility
Agree on travel is the norm but disagree on the blanket statement 45-60 hours a week. Accenture is huge (460k+ people, 65k+ in the US) so experience/pay/culture vary widely from one group to another and I won't trust fishbowl opinions as the single decision source for an offer from Accenture. It really depends on the vibe you got from the in person interview and I hope you asked these type of questions when you had that chance. Otherwise asking them here with blanket statements is really not a good approach for your decision
I've never heard of people and change practice, is that Talent and Organization?
Talent & Org? Probably decent w/l balance but still travel
I work 30-40 hours per week on a local account. I think it depends on the industry. For example I am in entertainment where most of the employees work 10am-4pm or less daily
