Is there any ongoing hiring freeze in B4?
If you are starting as an Audit Associate some time from now with Deloitte or any of the big 4, do they expect you to have passed/completed all 4 parts by the time you start? Received the Becker Reimbursement email from the recruiter not too long ago but have yet to start. I’ve seen plenty of people get to Senior at a big 4 firm without the CPA so I am a bit confused in that aspect. Any helpful feedback will be very much appreciated.

Generational differences. I’m a millennial (1985) tax director. Even amongst my peers it’s rare that people have stayed at one job their entire career. I identify more with gen X or even boomers in what I personally value in a career. The next generations (younger millennials born in the 90s, and gen Z) are much more focused on personal fulfillment. I’m not saying my way is right or wrong, but will be interesting to see how this plays out for those who job hop and don’t find their “passion”.

Maybe the better question is why are people staying or going into audit? What does audit have to offer in terms of pay or career that is better than other alternatives?
I’ve seen a lot move to advisory/consulting positions (strong need for this right now). It seems like industry jobs are offering solid compensation, since the staffing shortage is affecting the industry across the board.
Staying at the same place too long results in less money in some cases…
You have a flexible schedule in consulting vs in tax or assurance and maybe advisory
