Serious question: is there a limit to the number of paternity leaves you can take in a year? Would 3-4 in a year be acceptable or does the limit match the one for women?

How many women are you impregnating, and have you thought this through?

likefunnysmarthelpful

In California at least you’re able to break up your paternity leave given through the state rather than take it all at once. I’m assuming OP is referring to this type of situation.

Assuming you mean of the 16 weeks family leave, if there is a limit of how many times you can space them out within the year?

like

We get 16 weeks over a 12 month period. Timer starts on first day of leave. You can break it up into multiple increments, but I think it’s either 3 or 5 days for minimum increment and I believe you have to work like 30 days between each increment.

Respect brother and in the same breathe, commiserations. The mind is a very dangerous lab, generating some interesting ideas 💡

Everyone gets 16 weeks during a 12 month period, starting as of the date your child is born or adopted. Birth mothers can take another 8 for a total of 24 weeks, and they may be allowed to start their leave 1-2 weeks before projected delivery date. As mentioned before, you can break up the 16 weeks into multiple shorter leaves. So to OPs original question, 3-4 in a year is acceptable, maybe even preferable in terms of firm and project needs.

What a question

crazy as it sounds, this is useful information.

Rant: I finally got a baby registry started and sent the link to family... and immediately was told all the things I need on there that I don't have (including things I'm opting to just NOT GET, like an electric pump - why is my nursing preference up for debate????). I hate it already. I'm tempted to take it down, buy it all myself and just tell people to start a college fund if it bothers them.

Need advice. Have some credit card debt that I’ve been working to pay off. Have made progress but want to lower it quickly. We have dual income, with a house (~$300k in equity), 1 kid and 1 on the way. I’ve looked into debt consolidation via HELOC but also have ~$80k in vested equity in my company that I haven’t touched. Get equity refreshes every year. Would it be smarter to cash out $15k-$20k of that to pay debt vs. a HELOC at ~5% given that will still require mthly payments

I kind of feel like I’m getting that recommendation because people don’t believe ADHD is a real issue.

Just a thought, perhaps the admin can pin two threads:

1) When / how did you tell your work you were pregnant?
2) Would you change jobs / interview while pregnant?

Both of these questions come up almost on a daily basis, we should have a centralized thread to help each other out. :)

Hi, I am a single-parent with a 9 year old daughter. Is anyone else dealing with same gender sleepovers with sexual exploration occurring? Exploring as in my daughter says outright “I am going to kiss you,” to her bestie before bed. Then after 15 minutes of giggling in bed I go to tell them to be quiet and see my daughter’s bestie is showing her buttcheeks to my daughter. To top it off they start trying to tell me they are laughing because they are reading “belly laugh books for kids”. Help.

So here is my dilemma:
- based in the UK
- opportunity for lateral internal move (culture&engagement) or stay where I am (reward). I am mid level IC struggling to progress due to flat structure so considering lateral move then hopefully up from there.
- 2 primary aged children, currently have flexibility in current/new role too
- Husband just got accepted on a international rotation which means I will be single parent for the short term.

What to do? Go with the unknown or coast comfortably?
