That’s why it’s expensive 😂

The cost of peace and quiet. Oh and also sleep.

M1, its almost like you hope your kid is good, but not great. Travel teams are atrocious expensive.

Summer camps, tutoring and eventually college education if you choose to pay for them freeloaders.

Strollers, car seats, crib, diaper pail, high chair

Formula ,diapers, helmet if shape of head changes too much. And most costly is wifey's mood swings, you have to pay for every second of mom's peaceful life after baby is born becuase she is going to be exhausted working with that little monster and you are the only one she can unload her frustration. Postpartum stress is real so i would pay attention to that.

Given covid situation don't spend more than 200 on strollers. They are vary heavy and if you are living in apartments carryinh baby in car seat is not fun so go for lightweight but strong car seat. Spend more money on that

You or your spouse putting their career on hold.

In a week, I have a black tie wedding coming up at a beautiful indoor/outdoor city venue. I’m stumped about a dress because I’m also 3 weeks postpartum from my first child. I am looking for a dress that will hide the mommy tummy (some loose skin that’s still tightening). I’m also nursing and my boobs are HUGE rn. Any recs on how to try to dress this new body?? 🥲

Fishies, has anyone set up a taxable investment account dedicated to taking care of their parents’ after life expenses? My parents don’t have much savings and I think it will be up to me and my sibling to fund the costs. We are both in our late 20s /early 30s so thinking we can create a shared account to invest money in a index fund. Then hopefully decades later we can use it on our parents. I’m also open to other suggestions and any general advice on taking care of parent

Hypothetical here: you are a parent and your child got into two schools for undergrad. The first school is a US top 30 University out-of-state, but you have to pay full sticker price ($60k+ per year). The second school is a good in-state university and 20% the cost. If your child goes in-state, you agree to invest the residual ($50k per year) in an S&P 500 fund that releases upon graduation. What is the best outcome for your child?

Been 2 weeks and I am tired of pumping. I only pump like 20-30 per session and 5x a time but each time it takes almost 1h from start to finish (lube the flange, gather the equipment, find a spot, find my water/food, pump, clean up and put stuff away) and I am not even washing them (hubby is doing that). What did you do to make it more efficient? Also I can't seem to figure my flange fitting. I follow the guidelines and the suggested one is more uncomfortable than a large size. Help.

Hi everyone! For those that feel comfortable, would love to see the breakdown AFC > eggs retrieved > fertilized > embryo > genetically normal (please feel free to include other steps, add in more numbers/details). I've read the averages of how it gets narrowed down, but always prefer hearing real breakdowns. I'm in the process of my first egg retrieval and trying to stay realistic. Really appreciate it!

Does anyone know what the paternity leave allowance is for UKI? Regardless of what Shared Parental Leave. Just paternity leave only? I read on some policy its 2 weeks? Is this true? Mothers get 9months full pay and dads only 2 weeks? Can someone who has recently taken pat leave confirm please?

Ladies, I know Deloitte has 16 week parental leave. What’s the policy for your company ( BCG, Bain, McKinsey, PWC, Etc)? Thanks.

Currently a few weeks left on parental leave and have had a potential opportunity come up with a smaller firm that I think makes more sense for my career goals. The question I have is: assuming I get an offer and the details work out, how do I navigate leaving? Should I provide notice right away? Go back to my current firm for a couple weeks and then give notice? I certainly don’t want to burn bridges. How would you feel on the other side?

Quick vent: fiancé and I were going to put an offer in on an apartment we loved before all of this Covid stuff happened but changed that plan to rent to buy starting Aug to be safer. The sellers just told us they accepted someone else’s offer to buy. We, especially me, were in love with the apartment but we were too risk adverse to buy now bc if Covid and fiancé working at a startup that had layoffs in the beginning. Just sad bc we’ve been looking for two years and this was the perfect place.
