Since when is 27-30 considered as old people?

I came in at 33 as a first year. In my second year now. Older then my director. Sometimes I feel weird about it, but at the end of the day no one cares as long as you work hard and don't make a thing out of it. Just embrace - I personally love being around such a young culture.

I'm 28 and I just started as a Staff 1. I had a career before this so I have a lot of skills that the rest of my peer group doesn't so it's pretty easy to outshine them. If anything, I'd just be concerned about the haters 😜

I came it at 29 as second year, worked in industry for awhile.. But I am older than my senior and my manager.. Just wanted some advice on how to manage.

No cares how old you are unless you make a point of acting like a grandma/grandpa at work.

I am 32. Did not think that I am OLD. As long as you do a good job and get along with people, who cares about your age?

Met some lady in PwC was a first year audit associate. Had to be at least 50. Went back to school late in life and got the job some how. Cray. Wrong age group I know. Still cray

You'll excel faster. At a point life experience will become a big part of the job. The ability to see ahead and relate to everyone becomes more important every year. Unless your wired. Then ur screwed.

As long as your work and responsibility is appropriate with your level I don't see any issue

I am 33 and came in as 2nd year associate- it is tough to adjust and I've been contemplating changing companies ever since

like

It's very sad that the year is 2016 and we are still having this concern. Age has nothing to do with your knowledge, work ethic, or commitment to success. Focus on what you can control and do not be concerned with the age of others. We are all adults so let's start acting like it!

Yup it does - I forgo the happy hour to go to my kids recital and I am told I am not being social - oh well

Prior military here. Late 30s and went to school after military. Doesn't bother me working for seniors in their 20s. Thought it would, but it's been no big deal.

like

I said "older." Just everyone at my level is about 5 years younger than me

I am 39 and a senior I have nothing in common with the other seniors in my group

EY3.. It kind of sucks right..

Should you mention in a Big 4 interview that you are in the final stages of the interview process with another Big 4 and/or if you’ve received an offer elsewhere already?

Too transparent?

I hired a CPA to do my tax return and she did the state returns in a counterintuitive way. I got on the phone and she explained to me it was totally fine and I should pay states A&B $4k and get $8k refund from state C, with net return of $4k. Fast forward 4 months, I paid the $4k but only got $800 refund from state C. She told me she will respond and try to get the additional back - in the case she cannot, what can I do?

I need a sanity check or slap in the face. I left EY in 2021 as a 2nd year SC with target promo year late 2022. Came in as a SC with target promo year 2023/2024. I’m exploring going back to EY in a new industry doing similar but broader work. Only caveat is they want to bring me back in as a higher level SC with promo possible Jan 2023, but I’d be doing (what I think) is cooler work in a new industry and comp would be about 10-11% more than what I’m at now (before raise at end of May)
