I predict we will have a spike of firms making a range of decisions over the next 12 months but by 24 months the industry will be forced to replicate whichever norm proves to be most socially in demand. Therefore... I do not think firm choice will be a factor on working approach since they will converge... they will have to or they’ll die.
B4 world has changed. At least here. My work / life balance has traditionally been solid but going forward I think my travel will be materially less than half of my historical patterns. I expect to work from home most days, more weeks than not
Less travel means more people willing to do the job, which means greater supply. Increased supply will have a generally depressing effect on rates - which over time will impact compensation negatively. Keep that in mind

I’m at B4 and I average about 45 hours / week and 1 day on the road every third week.
It’s not the firm, it’s the role.

I would say we are the best of the B4 there. Also will depend on the practice you are in
Boutiques.
Our leadership team averages between 55-60 hours a week. Limited travel pre-Covid and post-Covid since most clients are local.
Attractive pay as well.
Most of our leadership team and staff are very specialized with highly technical academic and/or professional backgrounds.
The best bet is a Boutique that has speciality offering & clients.

RSM is great. I moved over from PWC as a direct admit Partner a few years ago. It’s night and day difference.

It goes by team, not by firm. There are 50 hour no travel groups in MBB.
