Here’s a brilliant idea…work well for one company and get promoted. *GASP* that will get you more money in the long run. And just quit the other job that’s not working for you.
How is this related to my question at all? It seems like you're simply bitter and taking it out here while making the biggest of jumps to wild conclusions. It's not about the money, I do work well, and I don't work two jobs. Anything else you want to assume?
You’re opening yourself up to immediate termination and even potential litigation against you if they found out. Pretty sure your employee handbook explicitly bars you from employment elsewhere
It doesn't explicitly, no. Thank you for the legitimate answer. What litigations?
As mentioned above, working for two firms simultaneously is barred as per employer policy. Even if you’re talking about two smaller firms, most states have a duty of loyalty clause that prevents this. I know of a similar situation and when both employers found out — as they inevitably do — this guy was fired from both jobs. Pretty stupid move.
Information like the duty of loyalty is exactly what I was looking for, so thank you.
Look at the employment agreement - a lot of jobs will only allow you to have one job or it’s a violation of the contract. I would assume they could probably sue you. What if you do the taxes for two competing companies and you see confidential information? There is a reason why when people quit firms and go to another one they tend to walk you out the door that day. Also I don’t even see how it would be humanly possible.
No NDAs. And that is a good point. Thank you

I think the only way you could is fraud. Defraud one of them and just keep making excuses until they fire you. Could still take a good few months
Thank you!
Thank you to STM1, D1, and TM1 for legitimate answers. I'm well aware it's not a great idea, but I have realistic reasons to possibly do this, so I appreciate the straight forward explanations of the downsides, as I directly requested, it has helped me determine what I should do. The rest of you are overly emotional assholes who can't read the prompt 😊.
And EY1 :).
