If you are starting as an Audit Associate some time from now with Deloitte or any of the big 4, do they expect you to have passed/completed all 4 parts by the time you start? Received the Becker Reimbursement email from the recruiter not too long ago but have yet to start. I’ve seen plenty of people get to Senior at a big 4 firm without the CPA so I am a bit confused in that aspect. Any helpful feedback will be very much appreciated.

It works fine in literally every other country in the world.
I think arguing politics is a waste of time. Everyone thinks they know what's best which is why you're free to vote for which ever candidate gets you there. Chances are you're not convincing a Bernie bro to vote for Clinton and vice versa. Can't wait for Kanye to be president in 2020
It's such a tough sell too. I paid for my college. Why should I give a fuck about giving free college to over privileged other millenials. I had to pay for myself and now I should have to pay for them to? That sounds like a raw deal.
I'm not sure you understand the definition of "literally". I didn't know they had free education for everyone in Sudan.
No.
I'm not broke and I know plenty of people that live within their means. I also don't support Bernie. I just think it's beyond cynical to suggest his ideas are kooky when it's the status quo literally everywhere else. Where I take issue with him is he doesn't seem to have much of a plan for his ideas.
@pwc4 but this isn't any other country in the world. This is America, land of the free and home of broke middle/upper class (which includes me and you) if Bernie gets his way.
@Deloitte 2 If you're referring to paid family leave, free public higher education, single payer health insurance, and a $15 minimum wage then that's not just Scandanavia, it's any developed country. I also wouldn't put much stock in GDP growth as an indicator for quality of life. I just try to challenge people who say that his ideas are absurd because once you venture out and talk to people from other backgrounds, you start to realize we're the exception rather than the norm. I think that has a lot more to do with a "greed is good" mentality and a concern for the individual rather than the community than it does the practicality of the ideas. Then again, no easier place to make a boatload of money than here and that's the American dream, so I don't see Bernie's ideas getting much traction beyond his rallies.
@pwc4 he takes a lot of his ideas from Scandinavian countries whose population is largely homogeneous and also significant smaller than the US. And look at their GDP and GDP growth (which is basically non existent), it is largely government spending which drives their economy. While I don't disagree with the idea that money shouldn't drive politics as much as it does, so many more of his ideas are unrealistic, impractical, and will ruin our economy.
People tend to be much more generous with other people's money...should solve the funding gap in our social securities and medicate system before digging more holes!
I would gladly pay more taxes to live in a more comfortable world.
I would not gladly pay more taxes for anything
That deal is RAW bro. Hippies
I was wondering what the percentage of public accountants who support Bernie vs economics was. Seems most of us remember our freshman year micro class.
@PwC4 I think you need to go look up the definition of literally. His ideas are not prevalent "literally" everywhere else.
@PwC 2 Higher education in Sudan is mostly subsidized by the government, give Wikipedia a whirl. And I'll rephrase here to literally every developed and developing (i.e. not third world) country if that'll work for you.
@PwC 4, there are very few developed countries that have the standard of living we have. You might get two weeks less of PTO here but you have access to superior health benefits (albeit not perfect) among other benefits. And the Scandinavian countries are referenced because they tax the top 1% to provide welfare benefits 2-3x our poverty line. Bernie might be able to give you what he promises, but you should see what you will lose on the process. I don't care about politics...just promoting "pool theory". There's only so much to have, so if get this; you lose that.
As a general rule aren't Democrats more beneficial for the accounting profession? Higher taxes means more value driven by our consulting and tax services. More regulation generally drives additional hours and compliance work/fees for Big 4 firms. Don't people usually vote their own self interest?
No. They all suck. Time for a wrote in.
I think as accountants we have an extremely difficult time believing Sanders' tax plan is realistic. Also breaking up the big banks to smaller institutions still means they have a shit ton of power and control. also, trump/Cruz are not the only alternatives to sanders
