Several PPMD and Senior Manager level colleagues that I’ve worked with over the past year have recently asked for my mailing address. My assumption is that I’ll receive a holiday card from these people or… a gift? 0 expectations here but is this a common practice? Should I be sending them something in return?

I asked because I was planning to pop by with my family and surprise you :)

I got a handwritten “thanks for your hard work” card from my Market Offering Leader once.

like

Most likely a holiday card. If it’s from me, feel free to toss it 😂

funny

Likely a holiday card. There is no need to do anything in return. It just means they think fondly of you and want you to be part of their holiday spirit

like

No need to send anything in return. Any gift will be project or otherwise firm funded.

like

I would also be extremely uncomfortable, and wouldn’t be sure what to do with it. Would not recommend. Anything I send over to you is firm funded, so don’t consider it as a gift per-say even if it’s from “leadership” it’s like a bonus. Would you reciprocate when you get your bonus?

Side note I hope it's not a family holiday card.. I feel awful about it but I'm prone to tossing those..

I usually stick them all up on my wall. It’s my way of feeling close to all these wonderful people who I don’t get to see anymore. Lol

like

No need. If you're doing a card, consider adding them! It's a great way to keep in touch with folks after you roll off a project and a little reminder to reach out to them every so often just to say hello.

We have the gratitude email templates, USPS is so last year.

I don't think you need to send anything in return but a simple "thank you got your card or appreciate the gift" is always nice. I find it amazing how rare a simple act of acknowledgment is.

Is it normal for a start-up to be super vague and keep setting up meetings to get to know you but gives you bare minimum details about them?

I had a start-up reach out to me and after a few meetings I have barely been able to get any information about them. I don't know name, size, or anything but a vague description about what they offer (don't even know what role they would want me in). Is this normal or am I right to be annoyed?

Any advice on dealing with a particularly critical client? I’m confident in the work I and my partners do. I think we add value and are great at what we do. I have a client who just attacks everything I do and goes to my boss at the drop of a hat. I’m starting to experience significant anxiety every time I see an email from this person. I recently went on disability leave and my boss Auto forwarded my emails to my coworker. I have plenty of emails that I need to access that have to do with my getting appointed with the carriers and policies that I have signed for groups.. How do I approach this ? I am upset that he didn’t even tell me. Didn’t clarify weather it’s a standard thing or not so as to ease my mind, etc. NOTHING! Jerk doesn’t care about my success

This is so AWKWARD. We had our holiday party last night and everyone was drinking (open bar) a group of us went outside to grab cabs together and go home, everything was cool. Tell me why once I got in the cab I got a drunk call from my manager asking if he could get a cab to my place and if I would give him the address 🤦🏻‍♀️. I'm single and not mad that he finds me attractive, more worried that all my other coworkers heard him calling me while they waited with him!!

At work do you ever describe who you’re dating without using gender specific pronouns just to avoid finding out if a co-worker is going to act weird about it? Lol

I am currently at a firm and received an in-house offer. Aside from main items like comp and big ticket benefits like PTO/health insurance/401k, what other items do I need to think about discussing/negotiating? For example, fees to keep bar licensure, professional association fees, CLEs, etc. I feel like there is so much on that end I currently take for granted being covered at my firm. Anything else I should consider?

Hi fishes!

I am seeing too many post about awards like rising star, Kudos, etc. People keep telling there managers recommended them for these awards.
My manager doesn't interact much with us. I consider myself as some one who has worked hard for project and other intiatives. Should I ask my manager to consider me and if yes how should I initiate it.
Part of MC team.

Thank you.

Looking for input on how to handle a direct leader that is hot &cold. 1 yr ago my leader promoted me & has indicated she wants to mentor me to take her role when she retires (director). However, her behavior towards me changes from week to week, sometimes she is very supportive and encouraging then she switches to making critical or harsh indirect comments that are not about the results of my work but imply she would do it differently. How would you handle approaching this with your superior?

PMs, If your company is an AWS shop, they just released two new cool features to Cloud Watch that is extremely valuable to PMs. The first one is Cloud Watch Evidently that allows for non-deployment A/B testing and the second is Cloud Watch RUM for user and performance monitoring. Definitely look into them since I’m sure the red tape involved to use them is a lot less that 3rd party tools.

They offered me 2 weeks of severance pay and I negotiated it to 3.
