Citi - SVP Salary Expectations for Tech / Controls
Looking at some SVP roles for technology / controls in the Southwest region. Glassdoor indicates $185-240k as range base comp, and target of $185-205k for average base. Is that accurate?
Glassdoor also targets $40k for variable comp. average. Is that accurate?

SF is trash honestly.
Locals joke about playing the game “is it human or is it dog”
Lived in NYC twice. Living in SF now. Want to go back to NYC. End of story
I only see pros for NY. What’s the conundrum?
Forgot to add that family is on west coast, not in California though. Weather is also better
NYC is for winners. SF is for posers
Moved from NYC to SF. Couldnt be happier. 30s, married, no kids, love outdoor activities.
In my opinion, NYC is a better city but the Bay Area is a better place to live. I love NY but couldn’t see myself living there. If you have friends and family on the east coast and travel would be mainly in the east, choose NY. People have told me SF is hard to make friends outside of work unless you put in a real effort.
If you have any questions about SF, happy to answer. I’ve been here a little over 3 years
That’s what I was nervous about with SF. Don’t have friends, and the office is a smaller satellite office.. so might not be the best opportunity to make friends at work
Live in SF, moving to LA at the end of the May and I can confirm that SF is in fact trash.
Strange smell in LA. But prefer it to SF though. Great weather
If the choice isn’t obvious, NYC is the winner. Been here 10+ years and still haven’t left, mainly because I hadn’t yet had a compelling reason to. Maybe someday, but again, there had better be a compelling reason.
Fun fact, I saw homeless people straight up smoke crack (!!) on broad daylight out on the open at 9AM on a Tuesday on my way to work. Honestly, it was a bit much so early in the morning. They were not trying to hide it, either. That’s SF.
I should add that my family is in the west coast (Seattle), not in SF though. Main office/operations are in east coast (consulting firm)
Have fam in San Diego, and moved to SF from NYC because I thought it would be easier being closer. Left back to nyc after a year. With flex travel I see them almost the same amount. Being on the same coast was less valuable than I thought It’d be. Hands down, nyc. (Agree with everything said above about SF as well. Reported cases of human feces in the street went from 20k->28k between 2017 and 2018. Enough said.)
NYC over SF any day.
Sigh, too bad I'm stuck here in SF 😣
