I’m stuck in career and need some advice for what to do next. I have a background in SALT where I did compliance, state tax notices, fin 48 calcs, and a little bit of restructuring. I was fortunate to land a role as a senior accountant but I don’t want to be a controller. So I’m thinking should I just go back to tax (I feel like I left because I wasn’t getting the proper training and mentor ship to succeed in the career). I’m also thinking should I pursue my MBA and switch over to finance to ...

Hi all,
Please refer me for AI/ML engineer and Data analyst-Engineer post.

I'm looking forward to make a switch towards AI/ML and Data science field. I've an experience of 2.5 years in the field of industrial automation but I really think this field is outdated with no more exciting job opportunities. I really feel that I'm stuck here and I hope you can understand my situation.

I'm willing to work as a fresher if required, but I want to move on.

How would someone coming from mostly retail wireless sales get into the tech sales industry? I have been a top performer in every sales job that I have had since I started my career almost 10 years ago. I don't have a degree which I feel might be keeping me from getting my foot in the door but I know I would be amazing in this field. I currently work out in the field selling to customers that have no idea I am coming and I consistently perform at the top of my market.

Hi All, I recently interviewed at Amazon and Google for software engineer and passed both interviews. I have an offer on the table from Amazon but with Google I am officially in team matching and my recruiter tells me that the queue is pretty backed up now and it can take a long time. My question is should I take the Amazon offer now or decline Amazon and hold out for Google? I have heard that Google has better wlb/benefits. But I'm scared to decline Amazon without a guaranteed job offer.

Did 3 panel interviews at Discover Financial Services for the Sales Account Executive role and felt the TC package was too low. Salary at $70K with annual bonuses at 25% with. $5K one-time sign on bonus. I made the case that my experience and education was far more than even the preferred criteria on the job description, and over 3x of the minimum qualifications. The recruiter is now thinking of two other roles for me:
Lead, Program Marketing
Lead Field Solutions Representative
Any feedback?

For interview purposes, is it okay to use a writing sample that was not heavily edited but nonetheless signed solely by the partner? Our firm typically doesn’t put juniors in sig blocks even though they (obviously) do the laboring.

Has anyone read any interesting books on how to approach QA?

On my team, software engineers end up creating test cases by writing up step-by-step guides for each ticket. QA employees follow these and innovate them where they can - but they ultimately need SEs to provide them A LOT.

This process seems dumb - the test cases disappear after the ticket is completed and I feel like QA isn't much of a professional role if they just follow guides provided to them.

Is there a better way?

Would you rather receive notice on a Monday or Friday or does it really not matter?

Why is it recommended you give a company 2 weeks notice when you are leaving but at the same time, when they are laying you off/firing you, they typically do it on the spot. I have known countless people layed off/fired on the spot over the years (especially after busy season) and everyone else when they leave give 2 week notice. Why should we relinquish power to corporations? Corporations really don't care about us. They pretend they do.

Need some advice:

I joined consultancy from industry in June 2021. I was expecting a fast paced environment where I can develop my skillset and explore other industries. I was told this in my interviews.

My projects have been slow! I'm a SME on the last tech before prod reaches consumers so I always have dependencies.

Whenever I start work I'm blocked within a few days. I cannot find a flow whatsoever. I feel like I've been staffed on this project too soon

Is this the life of a consultant?

What are my (realistic) options?

1. 10 years experience in FS Consulting and top tier IB operations
2. Roles have been a combination of transformation, innovation (think digital, automation, AI, etc), and heavy data analytics
3. Have line management and project leadership experience
4. Want to do something more directly commercial (internal accounting reductions in headcount just aren't tangible enough...)
5. Has to be London based
