“She’s just jealous” sometimes I feel this is an easy go-to our gender uses to explain rude behavior.

First: Jealous is incorrect, it’s envious. But I feel it’s a cheap way to bandage a situation that is most likely much worse. Some women just don’t like you (the last thing they’d want is to be you) and they’re making a power play or they have a mental issue that’s causing this behavior.

That’s a terrible explanation. Even if it is true, that shouldn’t be the go to ever.

And sometimes people arent jealous... they're actually just trying to help you grow by giving constructive feedback... I had a "friend"/co-worker who accused me of being jealous of her once because I tried to give her feedback (in a constructive way) when I'd overheard our mutual boss complaining to another one of our superiors about her. She was so quick to accuse me of being wrong and "just jealous" of her... I was shocked. The last thing I ever want is to be unaware of my shortcomings and have everyone else talking about it behind my back - so I thought I was being a good friend (especially when our boss refused to give her any useful feedback to her face). I also originally didn't want to make her feel bad by letting her know that our boss was complaining about her. After that though, I stopped trying. I definitely wasnt envious of her though because, to be honest, she just wasn't good at her job... Eventually she caught on and switched careers entirely.

If you were offered a role at a company where there was little to no diversity within the group you were interviewing for (not even at the level you were interviewing for, or at senior leadership level) would this be a red flag for you in terms of culture, & potential opportunities? I want to keep an open mind but this company has been around for 20 years. The people I interviewed with were great but im concerned that there’s a larger problem at play. Thoughts?

Best and worst experience relating to diversity? For me. Best: winning an agency competition for a diversity related thought piece. Worst: reporting a sociopath creep and nothing being done about it.

So I recently started a position with Fox. When it was presented to me in interview, I was told I would be working aligned with Fox Sports & Entertainment, not so much News. Now that I’m here, I’m seeing everything I’ll be doing is with the News team & makes me uncomfortable. No diversity, outdated software & process.
Financially, it’s the best position I been in. But mentally in this environment, it’s depressing & slow. Nothing innovative or engaging. What would you do?

Respected People,

I wanted to understand why females are on this much higher altitude in India?
even gender ratio of india is now 1020/1000, which means india has more female than males.

Then why people are going crazy for finding a girl?

Why self respect do not matter for some people?

PS: I am a guy. *Not looking for any girl*,

Already got a decent girl as my life partner. (based on my personality not salary)

I work at a firm with ~200 employees and we do not have any diversity. When I reached out to leadership to set goals for DEI next year, they just said there aren’t qualified candidates. Truth is I’ve never seen a single resume from African American/latina racial backgrounds. If they don’t screen them, how do they know they are not qualified.
I’m afraid if retaliation if I keep pushing. Looking for suggestions on what I can do.

My boss and agency have continually given me more and harder accounts than my direct counterparts. I’m also confident that I’m paid less with similar experience

Recently my boss made an odd comment about a client, stating she worked a lot because she is childless and didn’t have anything better to do. I’m also childless and my counterparts have children so this didn’t sit well.

Anybody who sees themself as a “girly girl” work for a super male dominated client/dept?

I’ve been interviewing for a new role that would be amazing - client side, sizable raise, great benefits. Honestly a dream! But the only thing that worries me a bit is the company/industry is VERY male dominated (construction and infrastructure). I see myself as pretty girly and can’t help but fear not being taken seriously or similar issues internally and on the field. Would love to know your experiences!

You're looking for a new job. You have two solid options. Which would you choose?

1. This job that would require you to scale back leadership opportunities in the short term, be more billable, but has long term leadership growth opps. Good work life balance. Solid clients. 25k salary increase.

2. Senior leadership role at a startup agency that would be fast paced, somewhat chaotic, and likely to require some overtime. It's in an innovative space with top tier clients. 50k salary increase.
