Taking a new job as the CFO of a $40m revenue company. I’ve never worked outside of PA, posted a JE, etc. so pretty nervous/green when it comes to the day to day management of an accounting/finance department. Any tips or lessons learned you’d be willing to share with me?
Any tennis players here? Where do you go for your tennis lessons/matches and how much does it cost?
So leveraging existing assets and lessons learn, is this a good practice? My interviewer said their company prefers to do things from the scratch. I’m very confused 😐
General poll: Agency with weak rep for $$$$$... or agency with good rep/creative for $$? Anyone choose $ over ❤️ with lessons learned?
Reading "Straight to Hell" and saw this great tweet to be shared during this Christmas season - " Every year, children learn a valuable life lesson: Santa loves rich kids more."
Kids - Let this be a lesson to buy tracking at USPS for important mail. Also, please forward the documents to Tucker Carlson if you find them in your mailbox. https://www.theguardian.com/media/2020/oct/29/fox-news-tucker-carlson-mocked-for-lost-in-the-mail-biden-documents-claim
My Canvas account glitched. 4 years of classes disappeared today, including all modules (units & lessons) I created. On top of that, my planning copies I work on during the summer. 😭😱🤢😡
Any bad golfers in NYC? Just finished my 5th lesson and am ready to lose some golf balls
That moment when you start using consultant speak in your real life e.g. "lessons learned" or "add value" 😳
Dear friends Help me finding a job in development sector. I'm interested in Consulting space. Going through a rough phase and empty pockets have taught me a great lesson. Being unemployed wasn't a choice but mandatory to look after my family. Since, everything has reached to it's pace, I'm ready to pull up my socks for new assignments. Happy to have a quick conversation on career guidance and also shaping my career ahead. I could see people from prestigious organisations are here. Pls help.
Wife and I have been talking about learning to golf together. Want to get started with lessons / clubs as a Christmas gift. (Weather warms here by March). Any suggestions? Start with lessons? Clubs?
I am teaching as an adjunct at my alma mater. I am focusing a class on life as an attorney and the different roles your substantive background can bring you to and tips/tricks/antidotes for survival. What are the things you wish someone told you as a 2L or 3L about life and law and your practice? Things to focus on or ignore? Lessons learned the hard way? Would love to crowd source bullets on this outside of my own experience (and my guest speakers who are unfortunately all male except for 1).
I teach Economics and Personal Finance at a specialty school. I use NGPF for personal finance but I am seeking Economics lessons for G&T
How many teachers set their own curriculum, meaning that you come up with everything you teach and assess? Beyond that, how many teachers are expected to change up their content almost every year? As a high school English teacher, I develop everything myself or collaborate with my (frankly amazing) coworkers. We are asked constantly to find new, modern books to buy and to develop curriculum around them (because our subject is more skill based). Wondering if other districts/subjects do the same.
What are innovative techniques for creating customer story video content in a post-Covid environment? Can’t do shoots and trying to avoid Zoom calls.
Just received my EAD and travel permit through marriage based GC. My current H1-B is not stamped. I need to travel out of the country - do I bother getting my H1 stamped or just travel using parole?
Hi guys, presently a manager at acn. Have a senior security assurance consultant offer at Amazon and potentially a security program manager offer from a tech company outside of faang. Expecting second offer to be slightly better numbers. Which would you go with especially from a career growth/exit opps perspective
Holding offer from acn CDO, decent salary but they mentioned they are lax on firing people if they aren't ready for promo. That's another way to say they don't promote as easily? Not sure what to do
Earnest question about the New York Primary Election from a foreigner (Brit). Why does gender count? This seems terribly confusing https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2020/jun/22/new-york-primary-bernie-sanders-supporters-delegates
My team has two interns. I like one and dislike the other. He said to me, “I only need to work two years at a big four to make 6 figure salary.” (And no he wasn’t joking on this).
The hematolgical issues we're seeing with COVID are concerning. Our hospital moving to heparin for all COVID patients, and trialing tPA
First year in a concierge building for me. I want to give two concierge staff and my maintenance guy a holiday tip. Also thinking it’s necessary to do the same for my property manager and asst property manager who are onsite and also great. How much is normal in DC?
I have a friend who lives a couple thousand miles of me who just had a baby, emergency c-section a couple weeks ago. Putting together a small care package to send to them, and I want to make sure it is mostly items for her and her husband. Any suggestions on things you wished people had done/gotten for YOU or your partner after having a baby instead of just more baby stuff?
Any especially telling questions you ask when interviewing for jr accounts roles? We’re hiring an AC, and our last AC interviewed really well, then couldn’t perform in the job.
I’m starting to think regardless where you go (agency side) the work will be there along with the politics and bs. Should we always base our next move with compensation as number 1 deciding factor?
1.5 years in consulting, and client has an opening for my current position. I would be a good fit and might prefer to work at client instead of current firm. Is there a smart way to pursue this position without putting myself at risk with current company? Can I ask teammates at the client for a referral?
Final round of interview was last week Tuesday. Still haven’t heard anything 😩. I really really really want the position. Please pray for me 🥴🥺
What are some good baby books. This is baby 2 so didn’t do baby shower and some of the things we did with our first, so would like something that is easily customizable and not too much work!
We have a senior internal audit position open in our company (industry) in Chicago for people with 1-2 years of experience. In case anyone is thinking about leaving their big4/consulting life
