No but I’m here for all the cowboys that answer

Me! Not roping/cutting specifically, but I've had horses my whole life. Currently own two.
Like I replied to the other person, I'd find a barn where you can take some basic lessons. It's a good starting point. From there you can decide if you want to do more or if you want to ride around on the trails. I mostly bomb around on trails at this point. I don't like riding in the ring much (never really have). Right now I'm just enjoying my horses. Horses make everything better.
No but I’ve always wanted to! Anyone know how one can get started?
Find a barn near you and sign up for some lessons! In all seriousness, research barns in your area that offer lessons for beginners. If you start off riding English (referring more to hunt seat than saddle seat) and decide you want to ride western instead it's pretty easy to switch. Horse Illustrated is a good starter magazine to read. They have good basic articles and do breed profiles each month.
This one was a little while ago, but that's my mare.
