I have joined american express india last month band 30 and now I heard some news that amex had layoff their employees during January by giving excuse of reorg.
I am quite shocked to hear that as I have rejected many big Mnc Offers just for amex policies. Can someone help me is it real do amex layoff their employees very frequently??

If I leave or am fired and my contract requires 2-weeks notice will I still get paid for those 2 weeks if they tell me to leave on day 1?

DDB Chicago posted ‘we’re hiring!’ today. For the same creative roles they just laid off.The press DDB would’ve gotten for being the first agency to bring people back? But instead they humiliated those people with this tone. Really sad!!!!!

I’m feeling very sad. I just learned that the partner in my previous firm got fired. I considered him my mentor. He took me under his wing. He was my Don Draper and I was his Peggy Olson. I’m really bummed about this, heartbroken and worried. Nobody knows why. The ex-colleague said everything was normal, they sent him emails but bounced back. Nobody saw it coming. 😢

Ok, so I have a couple of offers, one kind of lackluster, for the County. The other is for a credit union-I left credit unions a few years ago to join a FinTech supporting credit unions)
I was laid off last month and have had a flurry of interviews…this credit union offer is my favorite so far, I do have another offer I’m waiting for from another tech company which has a much higher salary range, but nothing is written in stone.
Should I counter? The offer is $95k for a project manager.

Is it weird to mention i got laid off due to Covid in calls with recruiters? I was informed today that my employment would be terminated at a tier-2 consulting firm in Toronto. The reasons for my dismissal are unclear and I would like to get legal advice on the termination agreement and severance package that was offered. Joined Blind over a month ago, and what an eye opener it has been. Tech salaries are insane. Even with the recent tech pull back and layoffs, some of the comps are on a whole another level. Friends in tech say, most layoffs have involved non-engineers (sales,HR, Ops,mrktng etc). Dudes in their late 20s pulling in 350k+. Unreal.

And then I look at my TC/bonus and a sense of disappointment washes over me. Short of becoming a partner, I don't think I can pull these numbers that tech bros post up.
