Woman here, I would not get in the water at all. Who thought this was a good idea? Ask other women at the firm what they plan on doing, I’d be willing to bet none of them are getting undressed either. I’d probably go in a sundress and sit outside the pool the whole time. If you absolutely insist on going in a bathing suit, one piece.
Did this as a summer. Most females did not swim. A couple did, but they were both pretty competitive swimmers and competed in a "race" with partners and associates. They wore speedos and caps. Rule of thumb is just don't wear something memorable and you're fine. If you want to swim, swim, but doesn't sound like you do.
If you’re asking it sounds like a one piece may make you more comfortable.
I don’t know where you are located, but my suggestion would be a one piece. Just like I would not recommend that a guy wear a speedo.
Man here- I can’t imagine wearing a swimsuit at all in front of any of my coworkers lol
Same. This profession is about professionalism. If you’re not prepared to jump into a pool with suit and tie, why would a client ever believe you’d help them out of the deep end?
It’s at a country club but are you sure people are going to be diving into the pool. Folks might just use the golf course if the club has one. It also might be a hang *around* the pool event. I would wear a summer dress and say oops didn’t know it was a pool party if asked why I didn’t pack a bathing suit.
This cannot be real
Wear what makes you feel comfortable and confident, but I would wear a one piece.
Back when I was a junior, I was given a tip by my partner, that just because it says "bring your swimsuit!" on the email, it really only applies for the kids. Adults don't wear swimsuits or get in the pool (unless to supervise their kids, which should really be the non-lawyer parent's job at the lawyer parent's work event).
Based on the comments in this thread you all have not only drank the colonial-period-Puritan-koolaid, you’ve chugged it.
Founder 1 and Counsel 1 are spot on. People need to deal with the world as it is, not as we may like it to be. We are a sexually dimorphic species, and men are aroused by women who are young, slim and pretty. Sensible men hide conceal this reality better, but it’s still best to keep anything sexual out of the workplace. That means eschewing swimsuits.
Yeah I’d probably at least keep my high waisted jean shorts on but I don’t own a one piece so I don’t think I’d go out and buy one lol
