Hi everyone, I recently accepted an offer at McKinsey (college hire BA). Can anyone tell me what the typical pay progression is? 2nd and 3rd year BAs, then first year EM? If I have a Master’s, would it be worth it to go get an MBA once I’m eligible? Do you think not having one will hinder me as I progress/if I decide to exit to industry? What advice would you offer someone trying to survive their final year as a PhD student?

Went from IT Audit -> Analyst. 58k to 150k. 2018->2021. I wouldn’t do a masters unless you absolutely feel like you need it. There are so many online resources to help you. Don’t try and jump to big tech company first. Get your feet wet and some random company and get the basic analytics and programming fundamentals down then move after a year or so.

I work as an AGM in a busy restaurant. Been working there for just over a year, and haven't had a single raise. I now only make 0.50 cents more than even the lowest paid shift lead but I am doing a lot more work. I'm no longer satisfied with these conditions. Remember, no matter what HBS tells you in a couple of hours, it’s not a reflection of your self-worth. (Not that I’ll remember, but just putting it out there)

Does it help if your recommenders are alums or the school? Eg hbs?

Aiming to do GRE / GMAT for round 2. Seems like a GRE of at least 324 for m7 looks about like the ‘minimum’ for a checked off box. So does a 720 for GMAT. Suggestions on which to take ? (Obviously a 330+ GRE or a 750+ GMAT would be stellar, but meeting the average / median seems like a good start.)
