Why would you be concerned that you 401k is up 4.13% for the year?

like

You can dream and wish that you will get this rate of return every quarter indefinitely

like

The the average is 10% over a year for S&P. You’re pretty much in line with S&P for the year.

You’re fine. Use major indices YTD returns as a benchmark.

I’m up 11% YTD. All equity, no target date funds (I think those are less aggressive) How is your past 12 month performance compared to your investment choices’ benchmarks?

That’s a good way to evaluate, haven’t considered it so will take a look when I get a chance. Thanks

No.

I’m down YTD. Heavy in growth. It happens. I’ll worry about it in 10yrs when I look at portfolio rebalancing.

What are you invested in?

That’s a good point! I’ll consider adding more weight to it, I already contribute to VUG in my R. Ira so can offload some to the intl market. Thanks for the insight.

If this makes you feel better, being in learning stage my YTD returns are ~2% and I’m not panic (yet 😉) . I would rather prefer not checking returns but to rebalance every 6 months.

Help - how do I fight claims by scammer healthcare providers? I recently went to 2 different providers. Dentist, made appt via Zocdoc to see a dentist that was in network. Another dentist at the location saw me instead who was out of network. I have text evidence they said it would be covered before visit. Claim was denied - asking for ~500 dollars. Saw a specialist who’s office staff verified my insurance would fully cover the claim. Get the claim, says they are out of network. Owe 600.

How do you know when you have enough money? I got laid off in the spring, but don’t feel a pressing need to get a new job right away. Have 3 rental properties, all paid off, get about $3k/mth net from that, have about $200k in a 401k and another $200k in more-liquid investments. I spend less than $2k/mth and feel happy and comfortable. Not married and no kids... but would like that one day, so thinking of maybe saving some more money for that.
