Should I expect my daycare's caregivers to be masked for infant daycare? Is it a red flag if the caregivers aren't masked up? Should I also expect regular testing from the caregivers too? TIA Not sure what is the norm! I live in Bay Area if that helps.

My daughter goes to a large daycare center in San Jose. All employees and kids 2 and up are in masks. There is no regular testing but all employees are vaxd. Kids and caregivers require a negative covid test to return if they are sick.

like

This is ridiculous. Send your kid to daycare and chill. No one (kids or adults) need to wear a mask.

like

Incorrect.

like

Yes. If masks are preventing from doing their jobs (kids scared, or one that lip reads, whatever) they can get face shields.
I would not ask the front line ppl but call or email the manager/owner/head office and ask to remain anonymous

Restrictions are lifting.

In GA no one has been masked for awhile now. Or required to be vaxxed. Notifications of exposure quit going out about 6 months ago. Kiddo is 4 and we've both had covid now in the last month. What does state law or the governing agency for daycares in your state require?

like

Same as AP1, what does local law say? We’re in FL and daycare hasn’t been masked in months (kids were never masked). I wouldn’t care at this point, and we’ve been very COVID cautious throughout except for on daycare.

like

You should understand your state/local requirements and the daycare’s policies. Our state no longer has a mandate but our center is keeping their mask policy for the time being. However, they don’t strictly enforce masks on young kids and group them into pods in their classroom (recent approach). They are sending exposure notifications but are no longer requiring quarantine, leaving that up to families’ choice. The number of cases and notifications has subsided and things are slowly approaching normalcy. We will be moving to a preschool in the fall with no masks.
In my older child’s school there are no mask or vaccine mandates, in another there are only mask requirements which were supposed to be lifted but are staying in place temporarily due to a lawsuit. Things are slowly changing all around so you have to understand your center’s approach and if you don’t agree with it find a different place.

in FL - daycare teachers mask, but it's not required and the kids don't mask.

like

No

Trust your gut girl. If you think it’s sketch - it probably is.

Unsure of your area and state orders, but if they’re not following them - because of their own personal views or whatever, I would wonder what other policies or regulations are they sliding on.

I have worked in municipal government for almost 17 years. I love what I do as an Inspector, but the environment is toxic, and administration horrible. I have an opportunity to go into the private sector side, as well a second interview for another municipality doing same job. Private sector job will pay 35,000 more but will be 3 hrs away my husband is in law enforcement and can’t leave due to his position. Concerns are: private sector and when recession hits, it’s construction, away from hubby

I have an extremely difficult 2.5 year old boy. I know this is a difficult toddler age altogether but I think I’m experiencing way worse. There are frequent tantrums in public settings and it’s very embarrassing. We can’t do anything. He’s in daycare and apparently he thrives, so we just don’t get it. Should we wait it out or consult a behavior therapist?

Wanted to get an idea. My almost 10 month old baby never crawled not matter how much tummy time we did with her. She only wants to stand and is trying to walk (supported. She cannot pull herself up well and if she is on her back she doesn't know how to get herself up. She can roll over no issues. How can I help her? We do exercises to help her learn to pull herself up and roll her to the side to teach her how to move from back to sitting. I'm not sure how to help her. Ftm here. Anxiety!!!

Is anyone living on different floors with ~1 year old? Does it work, PROs, CONs? Our master bedroom is upstairs. There are two bedrooms downstairs so I always thought we’d use one of those rooms as our bedroom so we’re on the same floor with baby but it seems husband wants to stay upstairs. And he’s using one of the rooms downstairs as a home office. We bought this house so cannot move in the short term.

Fellow moms, I need advice. My daughter is in second grade and she is not meeting her targets for math. Or as they used to say when I was 7, she failed a test. I’m a little concerned because I can’t teach her. Anyway, I want to enroll her in some kind of math tutoring. Any thoughts on a tutoring service? Please, no criticism on whether a 7 year old needs math tutoring. She told me she hates math- which she is totally picking up from other girls, I’m sure because we are a math positive home.

I’m divorced & have 2 boys, 6 & 4 yo. Last week I took the 6 yo for a pedicure and he chose blue nail polish, well aware that he didn’t have to choose any at all. FFW to this week. It’s a “boys weekend” (kids w/dad). Their grandad is also in town, since Wed. Dad has called to ask to have the boys in the evenings (i have W &Th, always). I have said “ok, but only if you don’t say anything negative about the polish.” So… they haven’t seen them. This hurts.
