Hey Googlers, I’m going in for my GCP TAM second round on Monday and had a few QQs for you all:
1. For the RRK2 case study if there is a scenario for handling peak time workloads where the client did a lift & shift of a monolithic architecture, is the best suggestion to move them to micro services to enable serverless and auto scaling features?
2. I was told that they’ll give me 15 mins to prep after the case study is shared live, would you suggest I build a 1 pager or is that not required?Google

I had a recruiter reach out to me from Google 3 years ago about a role she thought I would be good for. She really advocated for me to be in the role but the hiring managers didn’t feel like I was qualified.
We had a discussion and she gave me a lot of good feedback on how I could be a stronger candidate and encouraged me to reach out to her directly for future opportunities. Fast forward to now, I’ve gained a lot of experience and skills. Should I reach out even though it’s been 3 years?

At this point, there is an overwhelming number of people telling you to not go home. Giving you a ton of reasons why (some being to stop the spread to other people, but most common reason is to NOT endanger your parents by potentially bringing them the virus since that’s your main concern with staying where you are). I get it that there’s a couple people saying you can, but if you follow that advice? Then you’re just looking for some sort of (even if minority) support for the decision you want to make. It’s your life, and you’re going to do whatever you want. But you need to acknowledge to yourself that you’re either following or ignoring the advice of the majority here (and wherever else you’re losing this question).
If you’re so set on what you want to do (you clearly really want to go home and are making every possible argument to do so), then don’t ask the question in the first place. But also know, whatever happens is all on you.
Question: why are so many people (who aren't in college/displaced) going miles away from where they live to be "home"? I'm 22 and have never considered being "home"... I'm actually baffled!
When the experts say “Stay home”, they aren’t getting into a deep discussion about what makes a house a home, they are saying stay where you currently live.
I personally did go home and I feel I made the right decision. Would recommend being in quarantine for 14 days once you get home to be safe. These are stressful times and its not easy being away from family.
As a parent I wouldn’t want my kid driving and staying in the car overnight. Too dangerous. If the drive was up to 15 hrs I would say go for it. 40+ hrs is too far. Air travel seems too risky due to the number of people your would encounter.
I understand all of the transmission risks, but I’m also worried that if I become critically ill, no one is there to help me out (just moved to new city, no real connections). At least if I’m home I can help my parents if they get and vice versa. Not sure if that outweighs transmission risk though. If I had to travel, is rental car better than plane?
OP, if u aren’t sure, STAY HOME for all of us.
How long is the drive?
Far. East coast to west coast, so looking at several days.
I would go as soon as possible before things get worse, and I would drive not fly. I understand wanting to be with family especially since we don’t know how long this will last, so take all the necessary precautions but keep in mind the risk of getting sick while doing a 4-5 day drive.

Listen I also don’t think you should go home, but if you get emotionally blackmailed into it like I did please at least self quarantine in your room like I am
I left 2 weeks ago from my city to go home to my parents and family. The city I am living in had a delayed onset of cases so I made it out before it got bad. Do what you feel you need to do
So you have to fly? If you go to your parents house, can you self quarantine for 14 days in a separate room without contact to them? That could be an option to avoid risking passing the virus in case you have it
