Should I freeze my eggs? I’m 24 and my company will cover some egg freezing costs if I go on their insurance. I’d have to pay for meds and insurance premiums so think it would cost around 5-7k vs 12k+. Should I do it? I have a lot in savings and it would otherwise just be in index funds but is financially possible.

OP - my first thought was that you should do it. I did it at 33 and kinda wish I would’ve done it sooner. But when I think about it some more, your primary reason is the cost savings from your current company. But keep in mind, after you get your eggs extracted, you have to pay for the storage facilities. I currently pay $50/mo. And since I had two extraction cycles, the two sets are stored separately, so that’s $100/mo. Depending on how late you decide to use the eggs, the storage fees would eat into what you may have saved by getting it done now. Bottom line, the age at which you think you may want to be pregnant should be a big consideration in your decision now. Otherwise, I would say get them frozen in the 28-30 year range. All the best

I would speak with your doctor about your specific situation and family history, but 24 is on the young side for a healthy female. Investing in index funds might not be a bad idea though... Just saying

What are the risks long term? You are a little young to be too concerned but I get it. There is a ticking clock but be sure you don’t do anything that will compromise your health you need to raise those babies

I’m considering doing it now bc I may leave this job so want to use the benefit. I don’t think there are any long term risks. My mother struggled with fertility and I would prefer to avoid that if possible.

I am 23. If I had insurance that covers it, I would consider it too. I have a few reasons why. I am very career oriented and not sure if I want kids at all. There is so much I want to accomplish and cities I want to live in before I go down that route. Dating these days is also though!! I have many older friends (30s) who have no marriage in sight and I can see myself being there and don’t want to settle down because my clock is ticking. My third reason is that I dont think hormonal birth control is good for you and would rather just tie my tubes up and call it a day asap.

I support this! Your eggs are better quality in your 20s. Plus, if you know there is a family history of infertility, why wait?

Trying to figure out how to manage health issues and work balance. Due to stigmas around something as common as herpes I cannot comfortably share that with my team.

Could use your help. I’m reviewing a contract for a new (in-house, freelance) gig, and the following 3 things I want to counter — or at least I’m curious if these are common: 1) Non-compete for 2 years for same industry 2) Must have liability insurance for up to 2 million while there (didn’t know this existed honestly) 3) Must give 30 day notice if leaving (I’m fine with 2 weeks…but 30 days?!) …Any advice on if these are standard and how to best negotiate them?

Interviewing, second meeting with HR, was told there was a mistake in the salary range for the position. They dropped it 35% to exactly what I disclosed as my current salary. I know big mistake... but I thought they would understand that I wouldn't be leaving consulting for a lateral, when market value is much higher than what uncle D is currently paying. My thought is that there is probably no way to roll the clock back on this position.
