NO ONE ever regretted having too much money in retirement. Always a good idea to plan for the future.

A school giving a 401k? You mean 403b? Never hurts to save, but sucks from your paycheck. Here in Jersey, they’re saying the governor is going to suck the pension funds away by the time I retire. I’m 28. Hope Georgia is better lol

Yes!!

Yeah we have 403b and it was recommended that we get that in addition to the CALSTRS because it won’t be enough by itself.

I’m the one whose ex won’t pay for college - and I have an update. My ex texted me today that he and his wife are buying our son a car (!!) for Christmas. On the one hand, it’s one less expense for me. On the other hand, my ex won’t pay for college and he owes me at least $10K for previous medical expenses, but he can find money for a car - which is a “fun” expense that will get him brownie points with our son. Whatever - my son benefits, but talk about a “Disneyland Dad.” Ugh.

Getting close to retirement (~2 years) and am wary of a double dip recession in the next 6-12 months. I have enough to retire now, and want to move my 401k into less risky funds that will have a lower downside potential - what should I consider? My top choice is FXNAX (Fidelity US Bond Index), or maybe a money market fund - but I'm not too saavy with this stuff. Any help would be appreciated!

Asking for some advice on an offer received… my current company base gives me 112k, 9 holidays, 20 pto days, 6% match on 401k and employee share purchase plan, individual bonus up to 8.5%. The new offer received is as follows: 110k base, 11 holidays, unlimited pto days, 25k in RSUs vested 100% after 4 years, no 401k match, annual performance bonus up to 7.5% with possibility to exceed it, basic medical, dental, vision plan covered by company. Thoughts on if the external offer sounds competitive?
