Should I move to US Bay Area with wife and kid. Wife runs a dance school here. I live with my parents now and have to leave them behind if moving to US/any country.

I was contacted by an Amazon recruiter for a remote Sr. Program Manager role. I took and passed the assessment and was moved to the hiring manager round which was scheduled for tomorrow. I got an email tonight saying that the Director of the group decided that the person must be in Seattle. I am in Austin, which is not an option. I’m disappointed! The recruiter will let me know if any remote roles come up but in the mean time, does anyone have any remote Amazon roles that they’d refer me to?

I would say move to US for couple of years for experience and then come back to take care of your parents

Depends on which VISA and even if you getting an interview slot. Also will depend which visa your wife is in as some dependant visa she cannot work or do anything for money. 300 in bay area is not very great. But if amazon why bay area and why not Seattle ? if Seattle 300 is very good.

Man stay here
Work at US for some years.get financial freedom.come back
Yes, approx 2L taxes PM. Factor in JB as well it spans across 2yrs in Amazon
Let’s assume you move to Bay Area. Monthly after tax you’ll get around 13,000$.
Rental: 3500$
groceries + eating out twice in a month: 800$ (2 adults, 1 kid)
phone bills: 100$ (2 adults)
Utilities: 100$
Car EMI: 400$ (No car means, include public transportation charges)
Fuel: 100$
Car Insurance: 200$
Health insurance: Company provided
School: Public schools are free
Total expenses: 5200$ Per month
Savings: 7800$ Per month which is 6,24,000 per month, 75L per year.
Vacations: 6000$ per year which is 4,80,000
Now include flight ticket charges for india every year or once in two years either for you and family or parents. That could be 3L per year.
Yearly savings: 75-5-3 = 67L per year.
On L1, you cannot switch companies. So we cannot expect growth in compensation year on year. There could be 2-3% increase from current salary in your present organization.
In India, you save around 35-40L per year. So there’s an increase in savings when you move to US plus you can also experience their lifestyle.

Guys please think as a family after reading all the messages. He said his wife has couple of dance studios and doing well. Why do you wanna uproot it and land in a new country which no one know if new dance school will be successful. Also its so expensive to start a business in US.
Happiness is above all other things. If you are happy, you should stick to that :)

Hey can you please help me on how to get an interview from US particularly in product space?
I'm working in a product based company, but there are no options for transfers here. So I'm looking for a company which can help me do the same. As of now I'm in the process of learning to the level where i can contribute much more than what i am doing now.
Please do let me know if there are opportunities in your organization or outside in product space.
Thank you
Go save in dollars, come back after few years, invest in sip, enjoy that during retirement
I filed for L1A, got Oct 2023 Slot🤐
Check yours, by that time your ctc in India would be close to 65L I guess. As you dont have any debt and save 90%(Not sue how u mange that much), you will be saving approx 4L per month.
Do you think you will be able to save USD 5500 in bay area per month?
Plus other things. Depends on your long term plans though.
Neatly put. Family over career. Yea UK/EU their pay is constrained by taxes as well. Thank you so much for your valuable insights
U are getting visa slot?
Not deciphered that complexity yet. First offf wanted to assess if its worth it
