I was looking for some advice/direction on my last couple semesters of college. I applied for some internships for next summer as well. I want to become a Financial Analyst and make it to PE one day. Any input would be appreciated! Bank of America JPMorgan Chase Visa Penn State University

PE WLB is pretty terrible but that is from a investment team perspective. IT could be better
Id try to setup a call with someone from the firm to get a better idea of WLB. 25-35hrs a week sounds amazing lol
I know it’s an anomaly and I’m definitely afraid of throwing it away 😂
I wasn’t even looking for the job, a recruiter reached out to me and compensation / firm is what made me interview
That's a tough call, you've clearly already done great for yourself! I personally really value the WLB but it depends on your financial, social, etc. situation.
Doubt this would actually hold any water, but once you get the offer, see if the PE firm will "promise" you anything WLB related and/or set your hours expectations IN WRITING. Alternatively, assume you'll work a ton and negotiate the offer up even more.
In parallel, don't hesitate to bring a second competing offer to your current role if you're happy there. I wouldn't expect a big bump like you got the first time though
Great advice, I appreciate it. No chance they’d match all the way up to $175k.
But I agree, if I receive an offer, I’ll definitely try and learn more about WLB and see if it’s possible to “set boundaries” for 8-5, 8-7 or whatever they expect of me
I’m a market bear and personally I’d be conserved about the looming recession. Unless this is a top performing PE fund I think there is going to be a blood bath.

They give you any more details on your role? If you’re the only one acting as the liaison then yeah, you’ll be pretty busy. I’m assuming that means you’ll be coordinating/translating integration/separation related activities for all transactions. You’ll be handling multiple at once which can be pretty demanding. It’ll be a little bit less work if you have a team helping you with PMs, engineers, other integration folks etc.
Now if you’re also having to help hands on with any kind of diligence or transaction activities.. that’s going to be a lot of work. Expect no WLB and working weekends as well.
Either way, i would take it. I don’t think there are too many 2 yr. Folks getting that kind of opportunity. Take it and just expect to work and learn a lot. After a year if you hate it you can join other firms that do M&A and get another jump in salary.
Thanks, I appreciate it
Should also note my base salary increased from 80–>86–>126k after negotiations after receiving an external offer earlier this year. Im obviously valued and I probably “work” about 25-35 hours a week lol
