Should I put in my two weeks’ notice on Thursday in person, or on Friday when everyone’s WFH and probably in better moods?

What feels right for the relationship you have with the person you're giving notice to?

I’m honesty not sure... manager is absolutely swamped every single day right now so I’m worried about even getting his attention/time as well as adding to his stress

I recently accepted an offer at Wayfair start date 3/15. As soon as I accepted a dream job has now come up that is fully remote and is more inline with what I want to do (tech). What do I do? Should I push out my start date at Wayfair or do I just start with them on 3/15 and see if I get an offer at the tech company?

I live alone and have loved the time not traveling but WFH has really started getting to me the past few weeks. On top of that, I got a series of bad news this week that really took a toll on my mental health (one has affected my ability to visit family), and I’ve never felt this alone in my life. I miss having an office to go to and see others in. Even started skipping workouts & cooking, both of which I love. Could use hugs and inspiration to get past this hump

Attempting to renter the workforce after a 2 year hiatus due to health issues followed by the pandemic. During this time off I had minor success running a small business, but not enough to pay the bills. I have 3 YOE, 1.5 as a Loan Officer, and 1.5 as a consultant within compliance and Fintech. Please let me know of any fully remote positions, or hybrid positions based out of Chicago or Milwaukee. I live in Dubuque IA, so for in office work it would have to be in Dubuque. TIA!

I know this probably not the best bowl but I’m curious to hear about potential gift ideas for my wife’s upcoming birthday? We are currently building the plan for the hybrid model we will follow mid October. (No specific date yet.) We have committed to an A/B model with groups attending MT and Th/F in person, working remotely the other three days. If you have an AB model do you deliver the same content to your students each day, regardless of them being remote or in person? Or is the lesson cycle one that begins on the first day you teach in person for each group? This second model seems complicated.

Told my pregnant sister yesterday for the first time that I don’t want kids (fear of having a special needs child + thinking of the world I would be bringing them into) and her first response was “not everyone wants to nurture and take care of others” and went on about how she has always been someone who takes care of others. It’s so upsetting that this is the kind of judgement women place on others when they say they don’t want children. Child free women how do you manage?

Hey 🐠, I’m trying to understand if I need to be looking for lateral exit opportunities from a compensation perspective. I’m a Manager in the M&A IT practice, 12 YOE (7 in Tech and 5 in Consulting). I am happy with the work I do and the people I work with are tolerable. New base salary is $178K starting this month. Asking because I’ve heard that people should keep jumping from one company to another in Consulting to have a competitive comp. Basically guys, is my compensation competitive?

Need in-law advice. We’ve been very careful with COVID. Our children are too young to be vaccinated. We are visiting parents-in-law (elderly, vaccinated) and sister-in-law (her and her husband vaccinated, two small kids aren’t but they arrived early and are past incubation period). This is an isolated lake house. Turns out this whole other family is staying in the house. We weren’t informed. They are not vaccinated yet all are eligible. Interviewing for a great position in industry (tech). They have equity comp & great benefits. Spoke to their HR, then interviewed with 2 people in the tax department and am getting scheduled for a next round of interviews. The only problem is: the office is about 1 hr from my house (I own). They said repeatedly that they want someone who will be in the office 5 days a week. I would actually move but can’t rent out my place now due to some repairs going on that will take 4-5 months. Thoughts?
