Depends on how much you will withdraw at retirement. I just do traditional until I hit the match since that's how the employers goes in, then the rest in Roth. Imo you are better off doing a Roth IRA first then 401K again. Plenty of research and info online as well.
Yes- pay your taxes up front now while your rate is lower
Can't do Roth IRA anymore as I'm over the threshold.
Yes if your employer makes co-contributions
You should max every year
Yes, max that bad boy out. No reason not to. You can determine if you have too much saved for retirement later.
Yes max that shit
Mixing Roth and regular is a hedge against higher tax rates in the future. Definitely put some there. Also if you're above the income threshold you can still backdoor $5,500 per year into a Roth.
Contribute to a regular IRA with after tax money, then immediately convert it to a Roth. Pay capital gains (zero) and then enjoy tax free growth forever. If you already have an IRA you have to convert pro rata so you might actually get hit with capital gains.
I see. I'll look into that.
Better to put in your PA and trade it
My wife's company offers Roth 401k. So I'll just have her max out her Roth. How does the backdoor 5500 work nomura1?
