Should I remove my education date range from my resume ? I’s a bachelors degree from a decent school (non - ivy). I have 5 YOE and just made manager. I want to begin applying to other jobs but don’t want my age (27) hurt me when applying. It becomes evident when they see I graduated undergrad in 2015.

I removed my year of graduation for the same reason about a decade ago. I felt like it helped me.

Remove the year. You are doing very well.

like

So do all of you remove your first relevant jobs from resume too?

like

I think the problem you’ll face is less about age than experience. Typically, 5 YOE is not enough to make manager-level in industry. Industry in anything specialized you would be a mid-level Senior. This is where the fast track advancement of consulting can hurt people.

like

As someone that worked in the industry I can tell you that a title will not be handed over to you based on your YOE. It’s highly driven by your area of expertise. If they are not convinced that you are an expert in an area/field, you’ll just be an IC in the team that has 5 years of experience. And that’s very common since Manager expectation in industry is way more heavier than in consulting.

like

Think of it this way: why would the education date help you? Don’t make a decision based on inertia.

like

Just school and degree is all you need

like

I’ve removed the year from both LinkedIn and resume.

Depends on how old you are. LinkedIn algorithms are ageist. Depends on whether that experience is relevant or not.

Agree with @EY1, it's primary your YOE that will potentially hurt your chances. 5yoe is the minimum for most industry firms before manager

Got it. Looking to move to another consulting firm though.

I’m sorry, what exactly are you asking then? Seems like a pointless thread. One consulting firm to another you’re playing the same sport just wearing a diff jersey.

Please advise, I’m scared as I’m not getting any offers despite interviewed at several organizations.
