If you do any training or feel that your contribution is greater, you have the right to request a raise. If your superiors are smart, the answer should be positive.

Are there any other achievements or skills that you've acquired since your last raise? You can usually make a better case for yourself if you have several factors that support your request for a raise

A number of different and unique skills, licenses, and certifications. Some of which apply to my job, some do not, others indirectly. As a single guy, I have free time to pursue ventures like such and I figured I might as well make use of them if I can

It is a good idea to take any assessments/certification exams you can find, that way you can add credentials to your resume and it makes the company look good too. As far as a pay increase, that really depends upon the market and your relationship with your boss. Some have very strict policies about when they can and can't offer raises to employees

I would give all my employees more $$$ if I could, but there isn't enough to go around right now. This economy has been hitting us pretty hard. So while it is fine to ask, just keep in mind that the higher-ups may have their hands tied as far as salaries go.

like

Of course, every time you increase your knowledge it is important that you are rewarded for it.

If you are happy in your current position, then yes, it couldn't hurt to ask. As long as the skills and classes are relevant to the job you are doing of course

Choosing between two offers right now and not sure what to do. Both places have solid reputations, option A’s maybe slightly better. I like the location of option A more and think it would open up more doors long term. Option B is also a good opportunity and maybe would be more satisfying short term. Option B offered more $ but hoping to leverage that to see if option A can match. Are there any other big things to think about that I’m missing?

Hey Recruiters!
I’ve worked from the creative side to strategy to accounts to client side and have done so all over. I had to take about a year and a half long break for health reasons and am having a hard time having anyone even look at my resume. Are there ways I can show recruiters that I’m interested in settling down and building a true foundation at one company? Or is there a program (not requiring a bachelors) that can be taken to increase my network and likelihood of landing a position?

How do you all deal with no recognition or appreciation of all the hard work? Literally been busting my ass for two SDs the past few months but not a single sentence like “thanks for all your hard work” or “thanks for the going above and beyond”. I have heard them say it to me about others…

Wish I was financially independent, so I could just leave this job

Any Bridge Engineers/Structural Engineers in here? I got my PE this year and have 5 YOE in TX + an MS. What sort of raise would you expect for receiving your PE working in a consulting firm? I am EOR on a number of structures in development, I manage EITs and Drafters (within projects; I'm not a supervisor), and am doing a lot in general. I'm at 78k currently, which is apparently still in the upper range of EIT salaries per a job posting in CO. I'm thinking of 15% (5% merit, 10% PE). Any ideas?
