Maybe I shouldn’t be asking this question but I am because I want your opinions! I’ll be going back on-site after being remote since the pandemic. I grew out my hair into a dreadlock style over this time. I want to know you experiences working at Apple or FAANG companies in regards to your hairstyle specifically. I am not thinking about cutting them but I do want to prepare myself for eyes at Apple
Anyone want to refer me for a Google role?
Basically the place I’m at now I’m just hating the role and the location. Thought why not take this as a pivot to be able to get free time to study or maybe I’d like it and make it a career.

I haven't heard great things about working at McMaster Carr, but my info is 5+ years old. There's a chance the job or wlb isn't that much better. Joining a new place just because you hate your current role doesn't seem like a strategy for long term success.
I might recommend staying in the current job if you just want to meet code for a month and keep hunting. This will avoid you looking like a job hopper, or like someone who couldn't cut it in engineering, and it might help you not get sidetracked into a strategy &ops role. It might be easier to get into technical roles in the tech industry from a hardware engineering role than a strategy & ops role at an industrial supplier. Your technical background will help you stand out. If you had an s&o offer in tech, I'd take it, but not elsewhere.
The other option was a recruiter that just hit me up for a Product Marketing Engineer role at National Instruments (NI). I assume that’s piece of advise would also apply for they role?
I think I need maybe 6 months of study to really get to a point of passing the leetcode assignments.
The other option is to take that product marketing engineering role and use it to get the masters in data science/ software engineering. It’s an easier role and it’s in Austin. I could easily get the masters from UT Austin while I’m doing a relatively easy role.
I can make it part of my agreement when signing on.
