Should I take out a life insurance policy on my mom who is a 62yo teacher returning to work this fall?
A 500,000-1,000,000, 10 year policy isn’t too expensive. I can always cancel after a year or two when life is back to normal (fingers crossed).

Are you asking if you should short your mom? Why not get a 20 year term policy...I mean what are the chances she lives to be 82? Ammiright?

Why the need to be a jerk BDO.

Life insurance for parents is a smart move, especially if they do not have or cannot afford to purchase on their own. Settled a loved ones estate and paying for a funeral can be very expensive.

like

Curious, what’s your reason for such a high policy? Does she have a lot of debt you’d be left with in case of inevitable? A mortgage?

Can you afford the premium?

Personally, I think that's kinda morbid. I'm assuming neither you or someone else depends on her income. If that's not true, then get it. Otherwise, as long as she has $10k in the bank, that will pay for a funeral. Plus, if she does die from COVID, there won't be a lavish funeral anyway. So you don't even need that much.

In need of some advice… feeling very discouraged. I’m no. 2 in charge and my function and salary is that of a VP (I work for a brick and mortar ASC/physician practice, as well as a telemedicine company). However, we are a small org and don’t use titles like that. I’m trying to move forward and expand into larger healthcare organizations, however I feel I’m being rejected before my resume is even reviewed because of my job title. Any recommendations? I’ve seen a couple posts lately with comments saying that people should not use a Roth 401k. Does the logic below capture the spirit of that concept?
1. Use trad. 401k to reduce taxable income now. Convert to trad. IRA once retired, then convert gradually to Roth IRA (ladder, SEPP, etc.) at lowest marginal tax rate
2. Use Roth IRA (and/or backdoor Roth) to take advantage of tax free growth and ability to withdraw principal early without penalty

I'm a noob with bonds, can someone break down ibonds for me in idiot proof language?

Per what I'm reading the interest rate is 9.62% if I buy through Oct 2022. It's a 30 year investment, but I can withdraw after 5 years without 3 month penalty.

Questions:
(1) Is the interest rate fixed or variable over the term of the bond?
(2) Assuming 9.62% is annual return but definitely want to confirm 🤣
(3) Do most people actually keep it in 30 years? I'm looking at 5 years for now and re-assess
