Should I wait until my background check is cleared before putting in my two weeks?

Got confirmation - we are good to go!

Thank you all! 😊

Yes. However, If you don’t have anything to worry about with regards to your background and are comfortable putting in your notice beforehand, then that’s okay too. I know many individuals that have and I have done so myself in my career.

If you don’t feel comfortable putting in your notice before it’s been cleared, ask the recruiter or HR for a status update. Some systems like sterling background do not notify us as to whether someone has passed or cleared; only if the background fails or there is an error/needs further information. And in these cases, HR may only communicate with the candidate if they fail. So to be sure, just ask! I’m sure they’d be happy to confirm with you!

TAM1, curious on your thoughts. Lets say I have a “criminal” charge-not considered traffic (quotes because it’s bogus) from 2013 involving Department of Natural Resources. I was paddleboarding on an inter-coastal waterway–getting in some exercise and didn’t have a life jacket (Never knew it was a law) and I like living on the edge. The officer followed me back to the beach in his boat and wrote a fine for $110 that falls under watercraft regulations-went to court and paid it. Still shows up in court records. This a problem or worth giving a heads up?

Always wait.

ask yourself: have you been naughty?

Hey Recruiters! I need some advice / insight-
I have been in media planning and strategy for 2 years now (straight out of college) but am looking to make a career change. I've always been interested in Talent Acquisition but don't know where to even begin making that jump. I would love to stay in the Advertising industry but want to try out the Talent Acquisition area. Does anyone have any tips on how to get started making that jump?

I got a verbal offer from a WPP agency today. The role's budgeted salary is 5k less than my desired salary.
The recruiter can get me closer but still not at my desired salary. Otherwise - it would have to go through a long approval process with no guarantee that the salary would even be OK'd.
I'm coming from a small agency, so I could be wrong - but I don't want to sell myself short by accepting the first salary they offer. Do I have any room to negotiate? Or is that risky?

If you’re working with a freelance recruiter/ headhunter but know of open positions outside the ones they’ve brought to you, is it best to reach out to the agencies yourself or through the recruiter?

Hey Recruiters!
I’ve worked from the creative side to strategy to accounts to client side and have done so all over. I had to take about a year and a half long break for health reasons and am having a hard time having anyone even look at my resume. Are there ways I can show recruiters that I’m interested in settling down and building a true foundation at one company? Or is there a program (not requiring a bachelors) that can be taken to increase my network and likelihood of landing a position?

Any tips for cold-emailing, especially during a pandemic? Any thoughts are appreciated!

I'm days away from starting the freelance position that a recruiter found for me, then another opportunity just fell in my lap last minute with better pay and a better agency. Whats the best way to...

I got an email today from a recruiter about a CD job. The first line in the job description specifically says they are looking for design background, not copy. My current job title is Content & Copy Manager.

This kind of thing happens often. Like, 30 seconds of LinkedIn research will tell you I’m not a designer. What’s the best way to respond? It feels really disrespectful and lazy.

I received what appears to be a random email from an executive recruiter at a firm in NY. She has a client but can not disclose who it is at this time ( ie. Non disclosure agreement ). I sent my resume thinking not much of it. I just received an email saying that my “resume did not parse correctly into the Candidate Management System. In order to move forward, I need your ATS compatible resume ASAP. “
Why does this feel fishy to me? Can someone provide any additional insight
