Unless you're Mike Pence, yes. It's only weird if you make it weird.

I feel for you guys. The culture that you now have to operate in is one where you are damned if you do/ damned if you don’t. But as one of the only women in my industry/ only woman on my team, it is very frustrating that men will purposely keep me at an arms length out of fear of how it will be perceived by others if they took an interest in getting to know me. I would ask that you try and treat your female co-workers the same way you would your male co-workers, not as liabilities that you need to tip-toe around.

I ask all my coworkers out for coffee/lunch/drinks. How else do you get to know them...?

Would the situation have been different if you were single? What about if you were married to a man? All to reflect on the emphasis you put on the opposition between ‘married men’ and ‘female’, which sidelines the important things to think about: Am I being inclusive? Am I being respectful? Am I being coherent with my intentions?

Only if it is to discuss appropriate topics and develop your work relationship and offer professional guidance and mentorship etc.

If it's nothing more than just coffee/drinks, why not?

You should do the same thing you would do for your male co-workers. If you’d invite them out for coffee then yes, you should.

I took a new job in order to move across the country for my husband's promotion and I hate my new job. The role sold to me by the recruiter and company leadership is not at all what I am actually doing. I am so overworked it's unreal. At first I thought that maybe I just sucked, even though I'm a seasoned sales professional with 11 years experience, but then I found out that I have 227 accounts vs the 35 & 64 that my counterparts have. Do I go over my boss's head and discuss with leadership?

Hi Fishes, I have cleared Qualcomm interview and had initial conversation with HR where she mentioned the CTC I’ll get and HR also sent some stupid form to “Justify” around 10-15 points on team work, motivation and other bs. I asked the HR for a call so we can negotiate CTC and didn’t hear back from her. Been more than a week. Is this much delay normal in Qualcomm? Should I keep waiting or did I get ghosted by HR?

Anyone ever transition from creative to account? Thinking that if I get laid off I might go after those roles too. How’d you get them to give you a shot?

I might have an exit to a *sigh* sox manager position, but very interested in the company, which will probably afford more interesting roles within a couple years. 30k pay bump. Take it or hold out for something more interesting? Honestly I like IA/risk mgmt.

I live in and absolutely love California. No other state compares in my mind (industry, career opportunities, salary, culture, diversity, food, weather, landscape, political inclination, etc). If I were to consider temporarily (2-3 years) moving to another state to accumulate more wealth on the way to FI, what states (specifically cities) would make me least miserable?
