Should you accept an offer, with out a merit increase ?

Hi! I’m moving to LA from Chicago, base 90k - no debt. I live in a 1BD rn and have been browsing the market in LA to get an idea of rent. I’m mainly looking west of DTLA (ktown, la brea, pico rob, etc)it’s seeming like a 1BD may be out of reach. I’m not looking to pay more than $1800/mo. Any suggestions on neighborhoods I should consider? I’d like to be near grocery, restaurants, and would need parking. I enjoy being outdoors and would look to go on hikes/runs in my free time if that helps. TIA!

Has anyone ever had to pay back legal/greencard fees? I had to sign a document saying that I would pay back all fees incurred by my company if I quit within a year of leaving after I got my greencard. I’ve been at this company for 7 years and the greencard process took 4 years. I got the greencard this March but I’m not sure if I can deal with working here for another 6 months.

I’m a contracts specialist and have been in my role for 2 years. Prior to that, I had 3 years of experience with bidding as well. Any others in the same role care to share salaries? I am a registered nurse with over 10 years experience in various areas, including ER. I’m transitioning to L&D. I originally sent a resume to a post w/$10k sign-on. Before giving an offer, they sent a link stating I had to complete an app. The link showed a $20k sign-on bonus. Now the offer letter arrives with $10k. I’m not being greedy but could def use the extra as I am taking a pay cut for the position. Should I press for the $20k or just sign as is?

I just recently promoted to HR assistant manager. I have my PHR and working towards my SPHR. I am the lowest paid employee in the depth. We have a senior specialist and a general specialist both make more than I do. They have been employed longer with the company. What is your advice on this issue?

I was promoted to marketing director in April but didn’t get a raise. This is when the CMO left and my workload has since doubled and I have four people reporting to me. I was hired at $105k so I’m making decent money but I’ve asked several times about bringing it to a director-level salary at $120k. They said it’ll happen but they’re not sure when because sales are down. Thoughts on how long to ride it out? I like my job and don’t want to quit but it bothers me regularly.

Professional in the Midwest with 5 years experience. Recently got an offer for a fully-remote (main benefit I want) Senior Business Systems Analyst role at $112k base + 10% Bonus + Equity Grant of $20k in the next 4 years (basically an additional $5k / year).

This seems more than in line with the national average for this position.

My main counter that I would like to ask for is a $10k Signing-Bonus.

Is the Equity Grant basically the Signing-Bonus?

I’m a layout engineer for a large construction company. I make 31/hr, 280 a week per diem. 1000$ month truck allowance. Lodging and all expenses paid by the company. One WEEK PTO That said, I’ve been here two years. No raise, no bonus, no opportunity for advancement. Is this typical? Or should I look elsewhere.

I’m a web developer and I’ve been with the same company for 14 years. I’m making $45,000 a year. I’ve asked for a significant raise several times as my work load has only been increasing. I get 1% raises and that’s all. Not sure if I should just go freelance at this point or keep pushing for more and hope it works out. If you’re a web developer, please share your salary! I work in Manitoba, Canada.

A recruiter called me to give my job offer and the numbers she gave were so low that I counter offered my number on the phone itself. She said she would try but cannot promise me those numbers. Also where did I get those numbers from ( they were all well within the range )

Highlights of the year: flew out on 12hr notice to evac E Europe-based employees & families, plugged 3 exposures before they became breaches, built TVM/privacy program from scratch, onboarded new CNAPP.

(-) Still a student (GIB: BA/MS expected ‘24)

Finally had a chat with my boss this week requesting a raise. They said they don’t have the final say over salaries. He has to ask the 2 main company directors and will have an answer for me in 1-2 weeks

I’m already below market rate and really trying to level up with rising costs of living etc. Plus I want to earn what I’m worth in the market now if I can

Any advice if they return with a lower than expected offer? I haven’t had any bump in 3 years and don’t want to settle for less anymore

5 year journeyman electrician. Been running crews up to 15 guys, top job was worth 5 million for the electrical portion. Non union worker. Making $34.50. I know I’m being under paid but asking what a reasonable wage would be for this type of work.
