Sorry to hear about your mom... hope you are ok.
Thanks for the post, it’s appreciated to have people acknowledge how tough it can be.
I’m a single mom who’s been in the Poconos (NYC is home) since March. Ive officially reached a point where my body & mind shut down in exhaustion when my daughter goes to bed. Cooking is a nightmare... we had ‘breakfast’ for dinner tonight and my daughter thinks it’s hilarious to eat eggs & bacon before bed. Little does she know it’s easy & I can’t be bothered. Work is impossible and every time I’m on a phone call is when my daughter asks for whatever she isn’t supposed to have (ie. A popsicle at 10AM).
I’m over it - I need a husband (to help) or a vacation somewhere without a viral plague or riots... where is that?! Ugh

Ugh, I can totally relate on the cooking and random request throughout the day. At the beginning I did a lot uber eats for my sister but now she’s on a strict diet due to high cholesterol, so I now I cook more to control the ingredients and food content. I miss the school system, where she had more structure and guidance on her diet and education.
Find an industry job. A kid deserves to actually know their mother. Your firm sucks if they're making you pull 60 hrs given your situation.

Yeah, Jan and feb were 30 hr weeks, and it been 60hr weeks for the past month due to some tight deadlines. I’m used to it, the most I’ve ever worked was 90 hrs and that was when we had back-to-back catastrophes going on in the world a few years ago and tax season during my internship years. Also, my 9yr old is my sis, she hangs out with me while my dads at work.
Single parent of two. I see you both, single mom and single dad! Hang in there, everyone. ❤️

Op you are fantastic. You are doing an amazing job! Your daughter is so lucky to have you as her mom.
Sounds like the bright side is you only have to “deal with her part-time”

My sister is 9, I help my dad out from 3pm to midnight while he’s at work. Sometime it’s amusing and she’ll pop her head in my virtual zoom meetings, other times it’s hard to get her to focus on school and check her hw while balancing project deadlines. My dad helps out but my sisters schedule is messed up due to our work schedules. It’s fun having her around, but at the same time, can be stressful to help her with math or reading in between meal preps and work commitment. I’m hoping my projects will settle down in a few weeks, but consulting can be unpredictable.
