Gonna be the one that says I don’t support forcing people to put something in their body which we don’t know the long term health implications to.

We were in the process of getting the data, now we have it, the vaccine will be approved.
Then we will see new excuses arise. (I hope we don’t)

like

What is wrong with you people…Jesus Christ. did you fight tooth and nail against all the childhood vaccines as well? Enough with this “we don’t know the long term effects of the vaccine” BS. Do you know the long term effects of covid-19?

Go educate yourself and read an actual paper about how these mRNA vaccines work.

Stop basking in ignorance and letting other people’s anti-science agendas control you.

My child is fully vaccinated according to ACIP recommendations because those shots have been through decades of safety and efficacy testing, and because polio is a much greater danger to my child than COVID is to him or to me. There’s no equivalence there and your attempt to smear as “anti-vaccine” anyone opposing this particular mandate for an adult to enter a workplace is intellectually unfair and driven by propaganda.

How can we mandate something that isn't FDA approved yet? Is that even legal? I'm not an experiment...

likefunny

EY1 again - the answers to your questions (whether yes or no) get me nowhere closer to getting an answer to my original question. You somehow twisted my legal question into whether I lobby? I have given up on a legitimate response because I don't understand how some trains of thought work.

Tell me you work for KPMG without telling me you work for KPMG.

This is just fantastic. Hope everyone else follows suit.

For all conservatives crying foul: this is what true small government looks like. Corporations will choose instead and there isn’t a damn thing we can do about it.

like

You think these sorts of mandates are coming without a friendly nudge from big daddy Fed??

like

I love this and wish ZS would do the same. For all those crying "much freedom, we don't know the science, not fda approved, etc" or whatever other ignorant argument, you can still choose to not get vaccinated. If you work for a company that mandates it, you just have to find another employer.

Thats how freedom works. Youre free to stay unvaccinated, companies are free to set terms like this to be employed there. You can't have your antivax cake and eat it too. Youre free to make choices, but those come with consequences.

like

All of you guys in favor of this are not thinking big picture. Regardless of whether you’re pro or anti vaccine. The concept of forcing someone to take something foreign into their blood stream when they don’t want to is completely and absolutely insane. If you don’t have control of your body wth do you have control over…. And sure one can make the “you’re not being forced to work for that company” argument, but you can make that argument for sexism, racism, etc… yeah you don’t have to work for them, but it doesn’t mean it’s right.

likesmartfunny

Capco. You are also bad at assessing risk.

You speak as though prevalence is a variable that is independent of the virus.

The reason we haven't had an ebola epidemic in the united states is because ebola is not very infectious. Your risk of dying from a disease can be low because you are unlikely to get it or because you are unlikely to die if you get it.

Ebola is just objectively less dangerous than COVID. That is a fact. The last epidemic of ebola killed 11k. This epidemic of COVID has killed more than 11k CHILDREN world wide (the lowest risk group).

Yes the CFR of COVID is much lower than Ebola but the infectiousness is so much higher that it is still more deadly, even for low risk folks.

People who start their risk assessment conditional on getting infected are dumb and bad at risk assessments. If you would get an experimental ebola vaccine, you should definitely get the COVID vaccine.

Truly we have two pandemics, COVID and stupidity, laying this country low.

I will take unpaid leave

Its strange - people get riled up about a group of people not wanting to stick something unknown in their body. Where I bet the same group of people, have a subset that support the idea of an abortion where its someone’s right to do what they want with their own body. I see a conflict here and Ill be laughing at them once roe vs wade gets overturned.

People keep citing the 99% survival rate while ignoring that a 1% death rate is still millions and millions of people dying worldwide. And thats assuming it doesn't eventually mutate into a more deadly strain, which the longer its around with people not taking measures now like getting vaccinated, the greater chance there is.

Not to mention that setting the bar at just surviving is a really weird bar to set, like severe flu symptoms, losing taste and smell for months, long term cardiac side effects, etc. aren't also really terrible outcomes. But hey, at least it's not death.

Hey! I’m new here and would like some input. I’ve been working in a new position for almost 5 months. In that time I’ve witnessed some unethical and lots of unprofessional behavior. I’ve been yelled at and berated by my coworker 3 separate times because of minor errors. I’m ready to quit. There are so many major issues in this company that I don’t know if I want to subject my mental health to this degree of toxicity. I just don’t know how to move forward from here.

Found a most enlightening work on decolonial history with tons of TIL moments especially about Anti Colonial movements in Egypt, China, Japan and course India in the 19th and 20th centuries. Most histories this period often adopt a Euro-centric lens but this book flips it and tells the stories of these turbulent times from the vantage point of the pioneering Asian leaders like Tagore, Al Afghani, Kang Youwei etc. Lovers of Asian history would surely appreciate this book
