The decision to use the postal service’s e-commerce site and distribution network was a really good idea. Why reinvent the wheel when there’s already a government entity that has a comprehensive database of every US household, handles millions of dollars of sales everyday through an existing website, and for which even 100M packages is a small drop in the bucket for their distribution network?

If it works like the rest of my mail, seven boxes will show up on my neighbor’s porch addressed to people in the next town over and I’ll get a broken box of half used tests.

The fact that we applaud the government when something works at its baseline level is quite a statement…

I’m not applauding the government. I’m applauding the firm that likely cut through all the typical public sector red tape and BS that plagues all those projects to roll something like this out ahead of schedule
It must not have been Accenture who did it 😂 (For those who don’t remember, they famously botched the ACA website rollout)
Fake news on ACA- Accenture actually replaced the firm that botched it. Plenty of other examples to use- no need to give us credit for that one! 😂
Definitely great to see a government rollout go well. At the same time, it was an incredibly simple form to fill (name, address, system probably validates your info after you submit). The famously botched rollouts like Obamacare were extremely complicated
Why do you assume the government was incapable of doing this themselves?! JK I help government implement agency wide IT initiatives and its always a mess with red tape and bureaucracy..
It isn't that perfect. Residents in the US Virgin Islands can't use it with their local internet service provider, VIYA. Works from their AT&T/Liberty hotspot though. Not sure why the block is in place because residents can successfully order once they. get on.
I was thinking the same! Seriously good work whichever consultant pulled this off !
