I think it’s important to realize your husband is not your coworker.. sometimes I would get frustrated because his stories weren’t quick and concise enough or that he was doing things the absolute most effective way, it’s hard to turn off work mode and am still working on this. Set calendar dates for weekends you’re around. Realistically i don’t think too many other couples go out Monday - Thursday even if they don’t travel so as long as you make the most of your time together on the weekends it’s totally doable!! I’ve done long distance, planned a wedding and now happily married for two years all with this job!

I would downvote KPMG for you if I could. OF COURSE ITS HARD with our lifestyles. Obviously finding someone in a similar job is helpful when it comes to understanding the difficulties (I was lucky enough to do this) but I have seen so many consulting friends find love with people in other professions and their partners are kind, understanding and flexible. You’ll find it, I have no doubt. Sending all the good vibes.

First - breath! If you are already worried the relationship will fail, it likely will. You’re a catch and all relationships require some level of compromise!! (Also TBH, anyone that feels they have to compete with you is likely not long term material anyway) We balance by prioritizing each other daily (calls or texts, sometimes just snapchats on super busy days) so the other person knows we’re thinking about them. It’s terrible to have to cancel a date because of something that came up (or a delayed flight!) but if you work on prioritizing each other daily (even in small ways) then missing a date is not the end of the world.

The challenge is balancing with kids! Only boyfriend/husband should be super easy! Btw we met a work so we understand what consulting implies ...
