Shows like “Ozark” and “Schitt’s Creek” make it look like you can uproot your family/life and figure it all out very quickly, even change your outlook.

I have moved several times and still the same old me. No reboots in real life, huh 😢👎.

I’ve found that a change in environment helps a lot, but one has to take things to the finish line. That part is more internal than external.

I don't think Ozark is meant to be aspirational or to indicate they have it under control. They have to kill her brother to make it work? Your analysis disturbs me lol. Moving is definitely hard in the real world.

Hi Fishes,

I have given my interview in HCL and cleared 1 TP, 1 hcl manager & Client TP and Client Manager rounds .
In initial screening HR told the generic statement of 30-40% and I have given my ask as 50% minimum. After clearing the rounds I heard from the project team that Client has given great feedback and wanted to take me in .
What is the % I can ask in HR Discussion and will they reject in HR if I ask more now .
I have 9.5 years total experience and role is Storage Architect.
Thanks

I was on a partner/manager call today and they were discussing the “high” turnover at the senior and experienced associate level. What was shocking is that while ours is about double normal, evidently we are 3 out of 4 in turnover meaning 2 of the Big 4 are even higher.

Healthcare corporations… please note you have more then 1 shift of workers. You have 3 most times, each shift has to be treated equally. This is and always have been an issue, and you cannot figure out why the other shifts refuse to be active and participate in anything and definitely not engaged anymore.

Pls forgive me if this is inappropriate to ask - How can we find out if we are at the peak of fertility or slowing down? Who do we talk to? How do we bring up this conversation? Is this a service covered by insurance? I'm not trying to start a family yet but would like to get an idea of where my body is at before making a decision. Is that the right step?

I‘ve been in a relationship for 2 years, and my avoidant tendencies flare up every so often when I feel let down by my SO — e.g., usually when he’s blanked on something he should have done to make me feel more supported in work or social contexts. He knows this about me and supports me wholeheartedly as I continue to work through it — but I know I can be quite cold and distant in these rare but painful moments. How do others work through this, if at all?

Did anyone read this yet ? I'm not sure how much I liked the paragraph long sentences but it has some very distinctive Kafkaesque tones. The book has already seen widely different reviews from different political camps. Ex-McKinsey & Company consultants are really becoming mainstream authors now.

I received a 2 year continued service agreement from my employer (government) costing $12,000 for individuals who 'leave voluntarily' within the timeframe. Will I actually have to pay for the costs of training if I don't end up liking the job? Are these enforceable? What are the parameters of 'leaving voluntarily?' Thank you!

Additional Posts in Depression/Anxiety Talk

For those on medication for anxiety what are you taking?

Whenever I have to put slides together, I doubt myself a million times and it takes too long to make a single slide. I know I have Impostor Syndrome and depression, and the longer it takes to put a slide together, the harder it is to get it done. It’s like I have a phobia for doing the work, but it’s my job as a consultant 😔 I think I fear getting it wrong, but I’m wondering if anyone else has experienced this and how they have coped? Thanks, in advance 🙏🏻

Is it normal for my psychiatrist to ask to schedule an appointment to lower the dose of my Ritalin XR prescription?

I’ve been on the same dose the past few months but recently it’s been causing a pretty bad crash for me so I wanted to lower it. Why the hell do I need to pay $60 for 10m of her time to prescribe me a lower dose of the same meds?

I’m wondering if I’m overreacting, or she’s purposefully trying to just get paid more

Is anyone trying to improve their mental/overall emotional health but no one close to you is working on themselves the same way? It’s just frustrating bc every time I talk to some friends they still get the same type of judgmental reactions like we used to be like 10 years ago. I’m just trying to live and accept everything but I just don’t feel like they get it.

Today I finally took the day off for my mental health. This year, I lost my childhood dog of 16 years, am planning my wedding in the time of corona, and dealing with an emotional/verbally abusive parent. Was traveling coast to coast weekly before quarantine set in and never took time to grieve or process things. And since WFH it’s been 60 hour weeks and some weekends working. Today after some hurtful comments from my dad, it hit me like a ton of bricks. Glad I took this day to reset.

How do you deal with irrational anxiety whenever your boss is saying “hey let’s schedule 1:1, I’ve got a few things to discuss”? I’ve never had a bad performance rating before, quite the opposite I have received positive feedback. Had a therapist who encouraged me to quit my job to be happy. Also encouraged me to not settle with my girlfriend because I’ll regret it (like how he regrets getting married). Ended up quitting my job and became more miserable, poor and suicidal. Haven’t seen my girlfriend due to long distance and COVID and we might break up soon. Did I just find a bad therapist or is it normal to project your own regrets to your patients?

Having trouble coping with betrayal and heartbreak from first relationship as a gay man. Ex lives in a city (town) that I’m staffed in long term (another 6 months). Flying in every week is so hard...

A reminder to those who are stressed about your billable hours that your value is more than your pure productivity. To those stressed about relationships, relationships are hard even for non-lawyers, but you are absolutely worthy of love. It is an important reminder for all of us that you are worthy and you are valuable. Keep fighting!
