I am pursuing my MBA at one of the top 3 MBA colleges in Canada. As fall recruiting approaches, MBB jobs listings are popping up on the college's recruiting website. Unlike US schools, the Canadian business schools do release the grades to the companies. How strict are MBBs on filtering out the candidates on the basis of grades?

New grad students have started asking about my experience in the program. Should I be honest and tell them how horrible it was? Or avoid the question and let them form their own opinion?

I’m a lawyer based in Europe. I’m lateraling to a firm in a new jurisdiction on Monday and negotiated a decent pay increase a few months ago (new jurisdiction has significantly higher income taxes so negotiated based on a comparable net pay). My old firm has just announced it is increasing salaries by around 15% which will almost negate what I negotiated at new firm. New firm doesn’t review salaries till September. What are my options here so that I’m not out of pocket?

Starting work next week. Likely WFH the whole year. I have a standard morning routine that I would like to try to keep. What’s a reasonable time for me to start working?

On the other hand, what’s a reasonable time for me to log off? Say I come to good stopping point and I fall asleep around 9:30pm. But then something happens at 10:30pm and i’m asleep… would partners be pissed?

1st yrs: I posted about quitting my job 3 months after starting (NY BL M&A) in 2021. When I started, I would sleep with my phone at full volume under my ear, never said no, and was on 10 deals at a time. Half of my head turned white, I developed high blood pressure, gained 20 lbs, and would get cold sweats and nightmares every night. I dreaded waking up and would count down the seconds until 2 am when it was acceptable to sleep. Fast forward to now, things couldn’t be more different. Cont. Below

How is WLB in biglaw lit (west coast)? Just want a life that isnt constantly under threat of ruined nights and weekends, and lets me live a relatively predictable work life. Going to a firm after clerking and feeling nervous.

OT but my SIL is 52 and single (engaged once but broke it off, ultimately never married). She is in the tristate area. I really want to buy her matchmaking services for her upcoming birthday but just saw how crazy expensive the fees are to work with one.
