For mine I had a 3 year payback period: if I leave before a year, I pay back 100%; between 1-2 years, 66%; between 2-3 years 33%. My guess is yours would be prorated similarly but for 2 years instead.

Probably not - usually you have to pay the whole thing back or sometimes half if you stayed over a year.

If the offer was similar to mine, it’s pay back 100% if you leave within a year and pay back 50% if you leave within 2 years

like

This is how my offer was structured as well

I believe it’s prorated annually

My old company (won’t name any specific names, but not EY) had a signing bonus that you had to pay back, but several of my colleagues who left before it vested or whatever “forgot” to bring it up during the off boarding process, and nobody ever followed up and asked for it back 🤷🏼‍♀️ maybe set aside the full amount so you are prepared just in case, but don’t volunteer to pay it back unless asked.

I would expect to pay back at least half. Usually these things vest on an annual cycle

How does the taxes work ? Do you pay the entire amount or just the post tax amount ?

I am wondering this too! Do you get a tax break on the money you return? Bc they aren’t your wages anymore

I have a similar clause i think it’s 1/3 if it’s between months 18 and 24

The whole idea of retention bonus is to retain your services for the full performance period. I do not understand why you are upset because you did not fulfil your commitment. I know employers in the private sector who would not pay any of the retention amount until you have completed the full retention period. Others would claw back 100% of the retention payment if it had been paid in advance.

You’ll have to pay back half

it’s just 2 months. stay for 2 months

If you are an MBA hire the bonus is prorated annually so you would owe half

Black (Stone vs Rock), which one has better exit ops for technical manager role. What’s the bonus potential?

I was an MBA intern and FT hire at Deloitte. Been here 3 years, been at M for the last year. I have seen others leave at this point in their careers and go direct to SM/director roles in industry, but as I start applying for jobs and have convos with recruiters, I have had more than one say that I’m light on YOE and that for that reason alone I am either not considered for a SM role or unlikely to have my salary expectations met. How can I combat/preempt this? Others clearly have.

Hi Fishes, Accenture has openings in their mobilization team under the ops division. I have been offered a role at CL9 with fixed component of around 15 LPA. I have 5.5 YOE. The offer is approximately a 100% hike on my previous salary however i was able to negotiate on my current offers from from EY and FSL (both less than Accenture offer). Is the HR lowballing me and would you have any feedback for the mobilization team. Thanks

In a rapidly growing practice, and perhaps 2 years from (non-equity) “partnership”. I like my team and the work I do, but I’ve only ever been a consultant and am tempted to jump to industry to try it out. Interviewing for a Fortune 20 company and applying to others. Maybe FAANG. Let’s say I’m 60% driven by comp, 40% driven by impact. Am I crazy for looking to leave? Should I just continue to ride this one-way train?

Has anyone ever tried negotiating for more vacation rather than a higher salary? I'm applying and interviewing for jobs right now. Some firms have unlimited PTO while others only give a few weeks. Personally, I'm much more interested in getting an additional week of vacation and would rather negotiate for that but usually only hear of people negotiating for salary. Has anyone had experience with this?

Partner community, it’s interesting to see so much opacity and variation around partner comp...for the benefit of the community at large, do you mind sharing; (1) company, (2) Years as Partner / Equivalent, (3) cash comp (base + bonus) and (4) % Commission? Fully understand that “commission” is not the standard by any means but if you could express your comp beyond cash as % of revenue sold, I think we can cut through the noise a bit. TIA!
