As a foreigner it absolutely baffles me how the US can subject its own public service to 3rd world conditions. In many countries being a federal or civil service employee is regarded as highly desirable, is this not the case in the US?

likeuplifting

This is not the case in the US. There are many dedicated, competent and respected public servants. But it is not the norm. The norm is a person who couldn’t get a private sector job, is very comfortable in a non-performance environment and takes advantage of the overly generous benefits.

If half of the current TSA agents decided to take other work, it would be a good start. I don’t want anyone to go without pay, and certainly not without food, but I think you’d be hard pressed to say that half of the TSA agents are worth what they’re paid. I remember when TSA wasn’t govt run. It was better.

Girlfriend is supposed to meet my parents this week for thanksgiving. But today she’s been going through such bad depression, she mentioned “not wanting to be here” over the phone multiple times. She’s been struggling lately. Is it okay for me to say that I don’t want her to meet them unless she’s feeling better. I told her It’s too heavy when she says stuff like that to me and I want to help. Idk what to say to her.

I interviewed for the position of Associate Human Capital Advisory role at KPMG. I cleared my first round but for the second round tgey gave me 2 case studies and one excel assessment to be completed in 2.5 hours. I am loving this so much more than project management and I’m very eager to learn more! I was curious what are some of the best books, articles, courses that have helped you grow the most? And do you have any other tips and recommendations for someone just starting out in this career path?

Thank you in advance!

Hi all, looking to buy a fourplex in Austin TX. Off market they will accept $625k “as is”. My only financing option is fha it seems since I don’t have 15% down. Current rents are $4300. It’s in south Austin part of 78704 but a really bad street. My thoughts are it’ll gentrify and I’ll condo regime it. Any major concerns, am I buying at the peak? Are there other financing options I should entertain? First house so a bit nervous. Thank you!
