I have a question/topic that has been on my mind since this whole COVID thing started. With all the anti-Asian sentiment going on, companies (at least mine) are now all of a sudden reacting TBC..
I wrote a rec letter for one of my legal assistants for law school right before COVID got bad and we all started working remote. Ever since then, this assistant has seemingly been slacking. There’s only so much I can actually see/review without seriously micromanaging her. I’ve spoken to her about her slacking at least twice and both times she just brushed it off. I want to withdraw my rec letter, but I feel like it’s too late. She is leaving at the end of the summer. Should I just let it be?
I’ve had a few friends die tragically in the last couple months - only one being COVID-related. I’ve been dealing with lots of grief and I’m trying out BetterHelp to talk through some stuff. Haven’t had an appointment yet, but I set my account up using my firm laptop and now I feel like that was really dumb. Am I an idiot?
I’ve been on a couple dates with a guy and we got ~physical~ on the second date. Third date is this week but due to COVID reasons I want to know if he’s seeing other people... what’s the best way to ask without thoroughly freaking him out? Usually I wouldn’t care this early but I feel like I need to be aware of his “germ pool” 😂
Anyone been to Disneyland lately? Are there still long lines? My wife and I have been under a rock staying at home due to covid and having a newborn at home and being extra safe, but I wanted to take my wife to Disneyland for Halloween. Is it relatively covid safe there?
What practice areas (if any) would be a natural move for a mid-level commercial real estate/finance associate? I started trying to leave my firm in February and, at the time, was super in-demand. Now, with Covid, commercial real estate is slow & I think I'll be stuck where I am for at least another year if I don't make a practice area shift. Are there any other practice areas where my experience would be valuable?
Annoying how the hospitality industry cut corners for COVID precautions but now are still keeping those corners cut just due to it saving money. Think it'll ever return back to normal completely?
My overdue promotion (PM to Sr PM) is in progress, but processing is taking a while due to company Covid delays. Is it inappropriate to ask my manager what the salary increase will be? (It’s killing me to wait and wonder if it’s lower than I’m expecting)
I am a 7th year in a new role. My on boarding has been spotty due to workload/covid and I’ve made peace with the fact that I’m going to have to learn my new role independently and sink or swim. In the meantime, how do I know if my performance is acceptable when my supervising partner has no time for me, is always annoyed at everyone, and is a generally snippy? I know I shouldn’t rely so much on supervisor feedback, but I had a horrible blindsiding experience early in my career...
The truth about how covid started
Long post alert. Also, confusing post alert haha. So, I'm going to be divorced in the next few months and have 2 kids who'll be with me. Ever since this situation has been finalized, I'm becoming very conscious of our spend & have been tight about it. Covid has helped. But I noticed that even my grocery store bills are pretty high...like a single run to Meijer is $125+. Costco is like $200 or so. We've always had fresh fruits, nuts liberally used in our house. Folks that have recovered from covid which symptoms took the longest to wear off? I just had cough and mild fever.. I’m into week 4 but cough just doesn’t seem to go away, any advice/tips?
If I’m leaving my current company for a new job and I really like the printer my current company gave me for WFH at the start of COVID, can I make them an offer to buy it from them?
I don’t have a tribe, but I’d like to have one. This lifestyle, pre-Covid anyway did a number on my social life. Maybe I watch too much tv but how are people finding their girlfriends? 😭 for reference I’m 26!
Anyone who had COVID have advice on how to best get through it? Just lots of rest and water?
headed to burma to help out with a covid relief project (and learn from their response). Wish us luck
Guess what happens to white man who premeditatedly shoot at cops? They get handcuffed and charged and get released on bail. And that's only the second part of the story. https://www.twincities.com/2020/12/17/coronavirus-bar-story/amp/
I need to travel to India urgently for personal reasons. I have a US citizenship and valid OCI and wondering if any issues due to COVID. Thinking of taking the flight from Newark to Mumbai to avoid exposure - does anyone know what it means once I land there (final destination Bombay). And can I come back in 2 weeks or will I have to stay longer due to quarantine?
My husband and I were watching the LuLaRich documentary and he pointed out the the big 4 firms are very similar to MLM pyramid schemes. 😆🤔🧐
Anybody knows how to find recruiters that assist H1B candidates in finding jobs for non-tech related positions?

How the heck do you get a job through LinkedIn? I’ve easily applied to 50+ jobs and haven’t even gotten an interview. Maybe it’s my resume?
If you have an outside offer at the next level up in your career but receive the offer before promotion time at your firm, what should you do?
