In the last 10 years - which are some of the successful products that Google has brought to market, which have been developed internally (ie not brought in through an acquisition) except GCP (which was an attempt to ape AWS)?

Sorry I rephrased it to be last 10 years. Maps and gmail were around the same time. Pixel was a failure. Chrome yes but it was more so built on WebKit, but yes can count to be one - though doesn’t meet the 10 year criterion.

LMAO; based on the business judgment displayed in these replies/post, I think you’re a long way from being able to tell Google how they should reallocate investment.

The comment above on understanding the existing core business (and in my view what assets will define future success) was spot on

Chromebook

Half the price as a windows pc and decent functionality. Everything is in cloud.

SM1 - you bring up a great point. Google Classroom is yet another example of a great product. Interestingly Chromebook and classroom have synergies.

1) The YouTube Creator Suite
2) GCP + Kubernetes
3) Google Pay (can’t disclose numbers, but it’s available in India and that matters)

Kubernetes is a phenomenon, and shows how naive OPs statement that GCP is a ping AWS is. It’s one of the most popular open source projects ever, and slowly moving towards being de facto tech to deploy modern apps.

Google Maps, Chrome Browser, Google Smartphones, Chromecast, Google Fi, etc.

Chrome is valid I think. It released earlier than your timeline but Chrome was a bit of a joke on release and Firefox had a huge head start. Think about a decade ago was when chrome pulled ahead. Both had add in’s and stuff but Firefox is was an enormous resource hog.

Chromecast?

Google photos. Part of the 1 billion users club.

Google docs, sheets, etc

Yea, it’s incredible considering how difficult web-based real time collaboration is.

Thank you all for your replies.

Which product you would improve?

Privacy (as a product). I think it’s hurting them in the long run.

Google WiFi, Chromecast

YouTube Premier. Love!
