Since I started to WFH I am just not productive anymore. I did come up with some ideas that might get produced this year, but overall it takes ages to move a muscle compared to how I used to be before

I find it tough to stay focused as well. One thing that helps is to get really tactical at the start of the day and make a list of the things I need to get done. When I complete the list, even if I have trouble staying focused, it helps me feel better about the day and be more forgiving to myself. Indefinite WFH is pretty miserable; you’re not alone.

Lots of people are like that. I was on a leadership development call yesterday with ~10 people and more than half of us said we had low productivity days. You’re not alone. I’ll try to come back with some ideas on how to be more productive, but know you’re not the only one.

CONT: Also, to those who might think that I am sedentary, I work out 4-5 times a week, go out for walks and sometimes ride my bike (I live in a country where the situation is under control and always wear a mask anyway). That's the problem actually - I am too relaxed and can't concentrate one bit on getting things started. The fact that I can't be a tenth as productive as I used to be is constantly on my mind. Help please!

I’m seeing my PCP later today after work to talk about my mental health. Never paid attention to it before now. We’re all in the same boat.

I make a list of things I need to complete for the day and or week. Once I am able to check those boxes off I feel like I’ve accomplished what I needed to do even if I may have been distracted at times. While I feel like I may have been more productive in the office I feel I still had a similar level of distraction by socializing or browsing on my phone to avoid my work. Now I honestly feel like I am producing better work products since I am able to step back and do other things instead of rushing to finish up at the office to get home and take care of things in my personal life.

Clearly nobody is holding you responsible for your work output. How are you able to get your daily deliverables done?

@Manager 1: as I said in the original post, I managed to pull off some pretty good work during the quarantine (won two pitches and we are in the production stage right now). I used to work 90-100h/week in April and May. But now I can't say that I am overwhelmed with work and when I have to work I find it very hard to concentrate. I always do a good job, everyone is happy with it, but it takes more time. And the thing is... I really care about my work and this situation makes me sad. PS: I work in a market where people don't get laid off just because of a bad hair day, but I know exactly what you mean and apart from the slight superior tone, I get your point. @Deloitte 1: ♥️

Try working for 60-90 minutes then taking a 15-20 min break. You’ll be able to gradually work up some mental stamina and it adds a little bit of flow to your day.

Encouraging WFH is not the same as making it mandatory. People who “take the option” of WFH will be frowned upon. Meanwhile “encouraging WFH” alleviates the liability of the agency. Don’t fall for it.
